2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Sweet-sour, slightly musty aroma. Light golden yellow with small head. Slightly sweet barley malt with a mild hops finish. I can see why I thought this was the world’s greatest beer back in my BMC days. Oh well, New Year’s Eve is meant to be spent with old friends even if they don’t mean as much to you as they use to.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
So transparent I can hardly see it. The hop aroma is almost overpowering since it has almost no hardly malt backbone to support it. Very light in body and flavor and subsequently, not much character. For an imported German beer, it’s pretty disappointing.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
24oz green bottle. Poured clear, bright golden with a sticky cap of white head.. not much color to it, but it was right on for the style. The aroma was skunky upfront, but the skunk went away when the beer was allowed to breathe for a minute.. soft bread and fruity malts came through, with honey and dusty earth accents.. pleasant enough. The flavor found more honey and lesser bready sweetness at the core.. lighter-skinned fruits gave a little kick on the edges.. a tad tacky and tangy on the back-end. Light-bodied and well-carbonated on the palate.. very much on the dry side.. OK flow, but it got caught up at the end.. this exceeded expectations.

0.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
For a classic German Pils or whatever this one is an abomination. I would consider it more of an EPL.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Poured clear gold with a white head that was bubbly and dissipated quickly. Aroma had notes of grain, bread and hay with a bit of grassy hops. Flavor was similar, mainly grains with just a bit of grassy hops.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
A classic euro-lager-- pale yellow, big foamy head, green skunky hop edge and a dry finish. Many find them boring, but I like ’em!

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Wow, this is skunkier than other famous green bottle brand ;). This aroma was so overwhelming than crushed into flavor department, St. Pauli Girl (did not bother asked for name) tried to resist but lost. Bye skunky (I meant sweetie).

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
I used to drink this one quite a bit in college and as I revisit it, I can see why. Nicely bitter with a great malty flavor. The big down side is the hangover this one gave me.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz. bottle from Northside Tavern. Pours a clear pale gold with a foamy white head. Aroma of malt, mild hops, grain, cereal, grass, and straw. Flavor follows suit, with just the lightest bit of funk- and this I appreciate because so many other German macros have an unmistakable, unpleasant funk to them. I’d rather have that dialed back, and SPG does so. Light mouthfeel, active carbonation, crisp finish and minimal aftertaste. Nothing special, but not awful for the style.
