2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from 12 oz bottle into pilsner glass
Appearance: pours a 1+" frothy head that drops slowly. Color is clear pale straw with mild streaming carbonation.
Aroma: initially a bit of skunk (green bottle) once that subsided, some mild sweet malt and grassiness.
Mouthfeel: light and watery with a somewhat dry finish.
Flavor: sweet yeast rolls with a mild hop bite that lingers in the finish.
Overall: nothing offensive (other than the initial skunk), but not near the best in this style.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Funny to read repeated "corn" comments. Sure, it is an InBev product, but it does not contain corn, so you have to discount those reviews. Lower alcohol content can be a plus when you have chores. Taste is acceptable and German enough. Not my favorite beer, but readily available and modestly priced.

Classic german beer. A staple that is light with a light taste and distinct german aroma.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
This is the typical yellow skunky beer...but not quite like bud, etc. Smoother since itís a "pilsner". Besides that, the taste isnít all that bad. Iíd say that itís drinkable, but barely. Donít know why anyone would buy this though, with so many alternatives out there for the same price.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clear gold pour with a healthy one finger head. Slightly skunked aroma with a silky smooth body & German malt flavor thatís more velvety smooth than crisp. Finishes watery but thatís ok, its a pale lager and a step above others I can think of. I could really get into drinking this on a regular basis as a lawnmower beer.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Iíve only reviewed a few beers from Brauerei Beck & Co., but theyíve all been pretty bad and leads me to believe this might be the worst brewery in the world (it is part of the InBev conglomerate after all). This is another generic pale lager that is supposedly all-malt, but is completely lacking in flavor or distinctiveness. I donít think brown bottles or cans would make much of a difference Ė itís just plain bad.
I poured a 12oz bottle into a lager glass. It had a best before date of 9/2015 and cost $1.85 ($0.15 per ounce).
Appearance: Pale amber hue, crystal clear with slow steady carbonation. Pours to a small, white, soapy head which fizzles away and leaves no lacing.
Smell: Strong skunk odor due to the green bottle. Eventually fades. Little genuine beer aroma.
Taste: I think I have a pretty high tolerance for bad macro beers. I can recall drinking other brews much worse than this, but Iím still scoring St. Pauli Girl Lager low because itís a lousy beer overall. The palette is pretty bland and boring; no malt or hop characteristics whatsoever. Initially, thereís a tang or spoiled flavor from the light strike, but I seem to build a tolerance to that quickly. Other beers of the general style tend to have a modicum of sweetness, but thereís none to be found here. Kind of ironic considering how it touts its ingredients. There are much better examples of mediocre pale lagers and theyíre as readily available and cheaper than this. Avoid.
Drinkability: At only 5% ABV, itís clear that St. Pauli Girl Lager isnít intended to be fussed over. The mouthfeel is thin and crisp with a watery texture. It doesnít finish completely clean as the skunky character actually does linger on the tongue for a bit. Though light in body I would not consider this a refreshing beer.
