St. Pauli Girl blew my mind with its wonderful aroma of light hops, a slight foamy head, light pilsner appearance, a smooth taste that is a joy to drink in excess on a Saturday night with your girlfriend, fizzy palate, and overall I would buy this fine brew repeatedly for years to come.

Pours a clear, faint yellow with some carbonation and a very white head. Aroma is very skunky with malt, grain and swamp. The mouth is a little better, but not much. Sweet and grainy, with slight malt characteristics.

This may have been my very first European import beer. It’s even possible that I first had this beer the same summer that I had my first Samuel Adams beer long, long ago. Back then I thought this beer to be different and almost classy… well, at least compared to what I was drinking at the time. I was almost proud to be seen drinking it. Not so much now, even if there’s a busty woman on the label. I don’t know if it’s because this beer had to sit in a green bottle or if it’s just a coincidence, but it seems to pour a light, pale yellowish color with what seems to be a green sheen to it as it exits the bottle and fills the glass. It’s so clear that it seems like tinted glass, well-carbonated, yet not maintaining any amount of head at all. The nose is almost spot-on with something like a Becks, with a very pale, subdued hop characterized lager aroma. It smells like the definition of a mass-produced German lager. In the mouth it tastes like fresh malted barley with no caramelized malts whatsoever. It’s straight-up dry barley. Although it’s almost as plain as you can get, it’s still unoffensive. What hops come out in this are very subdued and don’t seem to be used to enhance the flavor in any way. I’d use this to cook some brats, maybe. Or maybe I’d drink it if it was the only alternative to its American counterpart. Otherwise, there are alot of other options for a well-flavored, but light pilsener/lager out there.

I tried this one in an attempt to avoid more bud light or coors light. Not great though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. (thanks to a neighbor emptying his fridge (I think). Pours a pale yellow with bright white head. Aroma is a very slight grainy malt. Taste is a slightly bitter grain and maybe hops combo. Watery finish. Considered when I was in college, now, not so much!!

Pretty unimpressive here. Thin palate with no discernible hops or malt platform to build on.

Bottle. Shocker of all shockers! A green bottle, but no skunkiness.. just a sweet grainy malt aroma. Pale gold with a large white head. Sweet grainy malt flavor with a light herbal bitter hop finish. Medium body and carbonation.
