2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Stray 12oz bottle over at Kristin and Garys. Cola Brown pour with a slight khaki ring. Aroma is toasted malt and nutty. Tastes are buttery, cocoa, caramel sweet, little metallic vibe, kinda bland.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours dark brown with ruby tints. Head is small; very little lacing. Aroma has some dark reddish sweet malts and some weak hops. Starts out a little toasty and sweet, fades quickly, and then some of the toast and sweet malts linger in the aftertaste, if not very much. Also a little metallic. Honestly, I was expecting worse, so can’t complain too much. It’s drinkable.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from a 13 year old bottle, thanks to Jeremy. Toast, malty, caramel, bready, fig, toffee, oxidized. Had a fresh bottle at the same time. The fresh bottle had skunky notes, malty, pilsner malt. I prefer the aged bottle.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
13 year-old bottle consumed in 2013. :). Brown, clear, thin beige head. Bready malt, light chocolate, some figs. Flavor of bready malt, nutty notes, dark fruit, quite oxidized though (wet cardboard) as you'd expect. Not bad for 13 year old St.Pauli Girl. ---Fresh bottle: Same appearance. Aroma of pilsner malt, slight chocolate. Flavor is grainy. slight chocolate. little else.

UPDATED: APR 22, 2013 Cold and served in a bottle, so not awful. But very light and didn’t get the malty tasted as advertised.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours clear, dark brown with a chunky, beige head.
Malt aroma, dark bread....a hint of brownies.
Taste is roasted grain, malt, ..again, a little chocolate.
Quite a bit of corn notes.
The dusty-grainy-ness detracts quite a bit.
Not awful, a bit better than regular St. PG.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pours a clear mahogany brown body with a small fizzy off-white head that faded to a wispy film. The nose is a little overly grainy with some light huskiness and corn, but there are a few lighter notes that are positive like a little light roast and chocolate. The flavor is pretty bland all the way through though. There’s some roasted and chocolate malts in there but it seems to be overpowered by a dull corn syrup base. Just a very minimal touch of hops. Light bodied with fizzy carbonation and a slightly clingy finish. This isn’t the worst, I could deal with a sixer of this if put up against most Euro macro stuff.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance is dark amber with garnet highlights. Nice moussy tan head that lingers throughout the life of the beer.
Aroma is mostly Munich malt: toasty and biscuity, as it should be. Slight spice from noble hops. No off smells.
Getting into the flavor, simply deepens the malt profile showcase, while adding a bit of alcoholic warmth. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely spiced on the tip of the tongue.
Overall, a solid example of a Munich dunkel.
