| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 7, 2009 Updated: Oct 5, 200950cl bottle as shown, typical oval shape of St.Peter’s Brewery. Slightly hazy copper-coloured beer shows a small, fluffy but quick-collapsing head. Low carbonation, rather watery mouthfeel (due no doubt to its low abv of 3.7% ). Aroma of caramel and chocolate, rather harsh, in-your-face, oaky and coffee-ish bitterness in taste Not very fruity. Very dry, bitter finish and lasting aftertaste. This is a bitter for those who need theirs with a capital "B". Because of that, the suitability of St.Peter’s Best Bitter as a session beer is rather limited. However, bland it certainly isn’t. oh6gdx (8838), Vasa, Finland

Dark copper color, not much head. Light woody nose. Crisp. Some citrusy hops, woody notes. Kind of harsh finish. Interesting, drinkability is not so high.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 9, 2009 (500ml Bottle) Mid amber orange with small white head. Malt, and citrus hop smell but not particularly strong. Taste was actually suprising, I was expecting bland 3.7 bitter but got a suprisingly hoppy and actually BITTER bitter, with a bitter finish. A little malt sweetness balanced it all out and left me with a very good ’best bitter;. A little citrus and toffee too. Drawback is overall straightforwardness of the beer, and that the texture was a little watery for my liking. Still good though! Muggus69 (517), Sydney, Australia

Beer info: Bottled in brown 500ml bottle 3.7% abv bb 05 May 09
Sampling Notes:
Served lightly chilled in glass.
Quite clear copper body, small offwhite head that dies off eventually.
Typically English nose; crystal malt sweetness, light bit of citrus hop and spice, faint fruitiness and bread.
Medium-to-lean body, chewy malt body, carbonation is low. Good bitterness.
Much of the same as the nose on the body, bit more focused malt and . Nice citrus and overripe apricot frutiness, bit of leafy hopiness, crystal malt sweetness balances well. Finish is quite lingering not all too drying or metallic.
Nice standard bitter, particularly for a bottled version. Highly sessionable I could imagine.
