Nice flavor (toasty, burnt malt with pronounced hop aroma). Excellent astringic mouth feel, at least for someone who likes enough tannin to take the enamel off their teeth. leaparsons (4756), Leicester, Leicestershire, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 18, 2006 Bottle. Clear amber with a big off-white foam. Aromas are toffee and caramel malts with nutty and metalic elements. Hops peppery spiciness. Flavours are sweet and fruity with smooth hints of smooth chocolate and caramel. Bitter citrus on the finish. Dry on the aftertaste. A very tasty bitter for its strength. EKGoldings (447), Radford, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 7, 2003 Had this in the oval bottle. Pours amber, nice head but disappears fast. Mild nose, nice malt taste, very slightly bitter. Caramel and malt on the palate, not much on the hops side. yarry (370), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada

Pours beautiful, a nice, very slight murky, orange copper colour with a nice tan head which readily laces on the glass. The aroma is hay, grass, fresh hops and a hint of malt. The taste is great, cirtusy hoppy but well balanced with a nice malt and floral taste with some hints at darker bitter notes like dark chocolate.
Interesting balance, im not a fan of best bitters usually but this one is good. Enjoyit (1785), Vadum, Denmark

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 2, 2007 500ml bottle - pours caramel/copper with almost no head except for a thin bubbly layer. Aroma is of apples, caramel, and fruity English hops. Delicate fruity flavour, with a lot of caramel in the body, finishing with a mildly bitter hoppiness. Quite refreshing, actually. Very low carbonation. Overall, a nice English ale, rather traditional and unsurprising, but I could certainly drink a lot of this fast. berkshirejohn (1840), Bracknell, Berkshire, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 25, 2006 Bottle: pours a clear chestnut colour with a beige head which disappears quickly; full in the mouth with a nutty caramel flavour leading to a pleasantly bitter aftertaste. An excellent bitter for its strength. Rodders (127), Norwich, Norfolk, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 9, 2009 (500ml Bottle) Mid amber orange with small white head. Malt, and citrus hop smell but not particularly strong. Taste was actually suprising, I was expecting bland 3.7 bitter but got a suprisingly hoppy and actually BITTER bitter, with a bitter finish. A little malt sweetness balanced it all out and left me with a very good ’best bitter;. A little citrus and toffee too. Drawback is overall straightforwardness of the beer, and that the texture was a little watery for my liking. Still good though!
