Maybe I got a bad bottle. Aroma is of toasted and camel with hints of raisin and plum. The flavor is what turned me off. Short lived malty creamy beginning followed by black licorice and finished with a green woody taste. ewww.

Bottled. Pours black. small cream colored head. Smells of roasted malt and chocolate. Flavors of chocolate and coffee. Lacks finish, but flavor is pleasing.

Medium, bright beige head, over black beer. Very nice coffee, or coffee-extract nose, bit smoked & resin, and sweet malt syrup underneath. Very much drop/liquorice flavour, some molasses, a bit of resiny flavour, and finishing a bit watery. Pretty sweet and a bit fizzy. Interesting, but rather weak finish.

500 mL bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a dark brown color with a large, dark brown head. Roasted malts, chocolate, tobacco and paint thinner in the aroma. Taste is roasted malts with a touch of smoke. Medium bodied.

Flaske: Flot sort øl med et lækkert cremet skum. Dejlig duft af chokolade og en smule brændt malt. Smagen er cremet og fuld af chokolade med en meget brændt finish. Super øl der bruger alle procenterne optimalt.

Bottle. Literally black coloured with some ruby spots, stable mid-sized beige creamy head. Dried fruits, roasted malt and molasses in the solid aroma. Robust sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied, creamy MF indeed. Lingering sweet-fruity, later drier bitter finish with an almost smoky touch. Good, fine English quality.............

I tried this beer on October 10, 2008 after purchasing from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a dark brownish-black. When held up against sunlight, there was a trace of light getting throogh. The head was thin, bubbly, and gone in an instant. The aroma was roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied, and slightly creamy. The flavour profile is similar to the aroma, roasted malt with a definite cocoa like taste and feel.

500ml Bottle from the LCBO. Strong coffee and chocolate flavors and aromas. I could drink a fair amount of this stuff
