abemorsten (65), Norway Sep 27, 2009 Pours clear brown going on black. Slowly disappating off white head.
Prunes, plums and a hint of tobacco caress the nose and an alcoholic sweetness in the mouth lasts through to the end. A true delight! Fratto (670), Arlington, Texas, USA Sep 23, 2009 Roasted malt aroma, strong dark chocolate taste, aftertaste is more chocolate. Thick and smooth. hershiser2 (902), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Sep 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours black with half an inch of brown head. Aroma of milk chocolates and some smoke. Flavor of bittersweet chocolates and roastiness... slight smokiness to it, which is very nice. How did I miss this one? danielst (131), Vienna, Austria Sep 14, 2009 50cl bottle: Typical dark malty aroma - an evident blueberry and dried, dark fruit complexity, sweet milk chocolate and a little roastiness, almost a bit smokey. Close to black colour with a nice, beige head. The flavour is clearly roasty, giving the impression of sipping the cooled down residue of a nice cup of coffee. Again a fruitiness that reminds me of dark berries, with a light residual sweetness. Faint alcohol lingers together with subdued bitter hops in the finish. The mouthfeel is definitely what the name suggests: creamy, full and lactic, to the point where I’d say it’s a bit hard to finish. An adequate, medium to low carbonation. This would be a great sipper for a stormy autumn evening. Cavie (1317), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Sep 13, 2009 Bottle courtesy of Fratto. Dark brown pour. Dark malts on the nose. Some little chocolaty malts with cream. Taste is smooth and creamy with the afterthought of chocolate. finol (475), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden Sep 11, 2009 Bottle from Systembolaget.
Surprisingly big bodied and heavy for a beer labled Cream stout, malty and cocolatey. dmac (1420), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Sep 10, 2009 500 ml bottle purchased at Jonathan Ron. Poured a super pitch black body underneath a large foamy beige head. Aroma had some very distinct metallic notes that took over most of the aroma untill it warmed up. Upon some warming lots of roasty malts, old coffee grinds, grass, slight bitter chocolate. Medium to slightly fuller body, lively carbonation with a rather bubbly finish, a touch of bitterness on the swallow. Flavor shows the roasted malts nicely with notes of well done toast, bitter chocolate, grassy hops and for some reason a very faint touch of lemon. A solid effort and I could see pulling a bottle of this out of the inside pocket of my big black winter coat in the parking lot of some sporting event or maybe even a concert where you only have time to have one. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Sep 7, 2009 Bottle shared by Leems. Poured black as sin with a thick cap of a tan head and excellent, thick lacing. Aroma was chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Flavor was pretty sweet, the malts and chocolate dominating with a bit of coffee bitterness for balance and some earthy hops thrown in as well. Pretty tasty concoction, one of the better British beers I’ve had so far.
