May 30, 2008 500ml bottle. Pours solid black with persistent creamy dark tan head. Aroma is dark roast malt. Taste is aptly bittered dark roast and chocolate malt ,coffee and muted hop flavor. Strong, but moderate body. Quite satisfying drinking experience.

May 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours an opaque black with a tan head. Chocolate and roasted aroma, taste is mildly sweet, burnt and has a bitter finish. Very Nice.

May 17, 2008 An aroma of raisin and roasted malt. Dark purple to black body with a thin chocolate-tan head. Lots of malt and smoke, a bit of cream. A little hops. Wakes up the bottom of the tongue. Smoke and effervescence, followed by stone square fermentation (Sammy Smith). Smokey and sweet.

May 17, 2008 500ml bottle. No head. Tastes like smoked bacon - which is fine, but I don’t think its supposed to. Thin bodied. I didn’t pick up on any creaminess. Disappointing.

May 16, 2008 [500ml bottle from brewery shop] Shared with Dave. Brown head dissipates quickly. Despite the name, there’s no creaminess here. Very bitter at first, strong coffee flavour with a hint of chocolate, a bit of treacle and some sourness. Treacle becomes dominant in aftertaste leaving a bittersweet stickiness in the mouth.

May 14, 2008 Bottle: Dark brown w/ a brown head. Have to be honest, this aroma is foul. Really foul. All I can pull out is some caramel amongst the foul. Flavor: Caramel & day old coffee. Not pretty. I haven’t had a beer this bad in quite some time. Nasty squared, maybe even cubed.

May 13, 2008 it is a damn good thing! very fine aroma, something between cofee-fruity and red dessert wine, pretty special! beautiful, balanced flavor, bitterish and sourish with fruit tones, it is like a sip of good cofee, rich aftertaste! my opinion is strongly recomended to try!

May 12, 2008 Has a rather small and rapidly dissipating head for a stout. Jet black color, and when held to extremely bright light it looks like trying to look through an infrared camera filter - super dark red. Being from south Louisiana, I have what may be an uncommon observation about this beer: "Coffee with chicory". Coffee with chicory on the nose as well as prominent in the taste. Some maltyness and sweetness in the taste as well with a bitter finish of hops and more coffee with chicory.
