milljam (562), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Feb 3, 2008 A nice creamy stout, prevalent roasted chocolate malts with a nice hop finish from the Fuggles and Challenger (gotta love the English hops). Well-balanced with a good mouthfeel. Brix (371), Denmark Feb 1, 2008 Tasted 2007-12-28. Fresh bottle. Pours reddish black with grey/brown head. Has the aroma of a smokey porter - rough on the smoke! Flavour is also smokey with some burned notes. It’s not too bitter and not too powerful. Fairly good. BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Jan 31, 2008 Very good Cream Stout. Pours pitch black with a nice head. Flavors are initially watery, but finish well with chocolate and roasty malts. The aftertaste is excellent. Illini08 (528), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jan 27, 2008 General66 shared a bottle of this with me; thanks Bobby! Black pour with a transparent brown rim around the edge. Small head quickly dissipates. Nice roasty coffee/malt aroma. Caramel malt and chocolate taste, some bitterness on the end as well. Slightly thin mouthfeel. Overall very enjoyable. General66 (167), Streator, Illinois, USA Jan 27, 2008 1 Pint .9 ounce bottle shared with Illini08. Poured black as night with a .5 finger width creamy head that disappeared quickly. The aroma was definitely pleasant with strong hints of coffee, chocolate, and nut with vanilla and malt undertones. Very light mouthfeel. Tasted of chocolate and coffee. It had a slightly bitter aftertaste but did not take away from the overall experience. This was a very tasty beer! coldbrewky (716), Saugerties, New York, USA Jan 27, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Mcox90! Thanks man. I truly enjoyed the pale green traditionaly shaped bottle. Nose has undertones of vanilla amongst the malt. Body is light for style but is benificial in the end. Pours a silky medium brown black with a quickly dissipating head. Body is creamy and smooth and has a smattering of port wine hints and some plums that strike and then sink back into the night of chocolate and dark maltiness. It is all finished up nicely with a stoic, corky hop finish that I was glad to see that I had half right (said fuggles and goldings) A very nice way to start the weekend. johndavidj99 (123), Township, Maine, USA Jan 25, 2008 Updated: Feb 29, 2008Black as the ace of spades with huge cola colored creamy head. Looks great, smells better! Coffee, molasses and chocolate aroma. Good bitterness, a little thin/flat/greasy with a chocolate, raisin, and grape jelly taste. Very palatable and smooth. Good beer, not great! I just didn’t like the body...everything else was of a good beer. mmmbeer (737), Austin, Texas, USA Jan 25, 2008 Pint bottle poured into the pint glass- poured a blacker than midnight of a stormer, thick and inviting tan head slowly laced away. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts, toffee, and a hint of alcohol. Hits the mouth with a defined medium body that isn’t overpowering, kinda chewy after a few swallows in the mouth, finish is solid with cream that glides away. Break out the cigars and take your time with this one!
