Pours a deep Dark color with a medium tan head that vanish rapidly. Aromas a roasted malts, chocolate and coffee, with a hint of raisin. Finish is bitter-astringent. Quite Ok, but a bit heavy on the stomach ! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Norway. Pours dark brown, with a very small head that vanishes instantly. Rather metallic aroma of roasted malts and dark chocolate. Medium plus mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet roasted malts at first, and leaves off with a lightly bitter aftertaste of the dark chocolate variety. Still rather smooth and easy drinking. Pretty good stout

For meg var dette en kjedelig Stout . Lukter ikke godt , metall smak og null skum. Litt røyksmak som var ett pluss. Ellers ikke noe jeg skal prøve om igjen.

Black. Close to no head. Close to no smell, just a tiny bit of lightly roasted malt. Medium mouth feel. Good. Weird frizzyness which disappears quickly from each sip (but it’s still there in the beer for the next sip). Bittersweet. Roasted malt, some coffee aroma. Some red fruit. Not a favourite, but still ok.

No bottling information.
Appearance: The body is nearly black but seen through the light exposes a deep garnet hue. The head is tall and frothy with great retention, slowly settling into a thick tan coating.
Aroma: The aroma is of creamer and grapes, perhaps oxidation.
Taste: The flavor is very interesting and balanced from the start. Lots of creamer flavor with grapes and a chocolate bittersweet finish hinting at roasted malts. I think this is oxidized throwing off the flavor though.
Palate: Creamy and soft.
Overall: I’ll try to find this fresh as I think it’d be amazing fresh. I’m pretty sure this is moderately oxidized. That’s the problem with English beers, they are never dated and are generally very old. Shame.

I’ve had a lot of these beers before, but I didn’t keep notes. Dec 2012 - bottle. cigarette ash with a moderate body. Not great.actually - I remember these beers being much better.

Great head, better body, really creamy. Good dark solid colour too. The aroma is less thrilling but its largely compensated by its smoky taste, yet fruty finish. An oustanding complex stout to taste before you die.

Black with a tan head, nose brings hints of coffee, cocoa and toffee, plus faintly of gravy powder. Dry, roasty and burnt toffee on the palate, with a sweet apple, liquorice and caramel undercurrent. Burnt-bitter and lightly hoppy finish.
