anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Oct 17, 2007 Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Roasted malty aroma with hints of chocolate and some weak hints of coffee. Smooth roasted malty chocolate flavor with some hints of hops. Roasted malty chocolate finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste. Ughsmash (3981), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Oct 16, 2007 Olive bottle, undated, and purchased relatively recently. Poured clear deeper brown with a tall cap of deep beige head. The aroma picked up dry, lightly-roasted chocolate, cocoa, darker fruits, and some sourness. The flavor had a whole bunch of chocolate, lightly-roasted and on the sweeter side.. rising sourness emerged toward the back-end, leaving a bitter-sweet and sour chocolate finish. Smooth and creamy on the palate, but the sourness threw it off.. seemed off, and I will have to re-try. FastEddie (178), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Oct 14, 2007 Pretty good, but needs more carbonation. Had no head whatsoever, only some lace. Unsure if I just got an older, flatter bottle or if the beer is normally like this. Really warmed me up... wouldn’t want to drink this except on a cold winter night. ChrisThomson (380), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 14, 2007 Luzern, 06. My favourite St. Peters beer so far! Pours dark brown with light but lasting head. Aroma of chocolate and vanilla, some port notes. Has light roasty notes with upfront bitterness. Nice velvety body with clean finish. Great beer! Aquilo (248), California, USA Oct 12, 2007 This is what a stout should look like. Opaque black with a big foamy brown head. The head takes its time to dissipate, and when it does, it leaves some nice lacing behind on the glass. I forgot to smell before I poured, so I only caught a quick whiff before the head sealed in the aroma. It was earthy and strangely familiar. I’m not sure what it reminds me of, but I’m sure I’ll remember it as I’m drifting off to sleep some night. Flavor is espresso, but with earthy undertones that make me think of roasted onions, beets, and parsnips. Very wet mouthfeel. I am enjoying this one a lot. tagz (334), USA Oct 4, 2007 pours opaque black, tan head falls to surface. light aroma, oats and licorice. roasted flavors, licorice on the tale end, nice mild bitter hop. dry, not sweet. was surprised by the thin palate but when combined with the crisp finish makes for a very clean taste. small tight carbonation prickles the tongue and compliments well. quite good, but didn’t blow me away. think i was hoping for more malt body. Homebrewerguy (284), Oil City, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 2, 2007 Beautiful looking stout, good malty aroma, good roasted malt flavor with nice hop bite afterward, nicely balanced between malt, sweetness and bitterness, very nice example of a cream stout BelgianBeerGal (1276), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Oct 1, 2007 Another clever 50cL bottle great for trading with homebrewers. Poured a dark oil black with a nice brown head. Very buttery aroma. Good stout, unsweet chocolate hints and just a little roasted hint in the finish.
