Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 28, 2007 A surprisingly good stout from a very decent established brewery. A chocolate black appearance with creamy black head. Bittersweet taste that is balanced. Overall better more enjoyable that the Guinness for Belgiums the night before. blklab2007 (943), Connecticut, USA Jul 26, 2007 500ml bottle different from the pictured one. pours a dark plum black in color with a little ring of lacing and little carbination. smell is malt, coffee, bitter chocolate and sweet caramel. taste is not too thick or creamy, has a bitter coffee chocolate and some definite malt action. very smooth to drink and has well blended flavors. looks like this is there highest rated beer I started with and not too bad and I can see being a nice session beer. unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA Jul 25, 2007 50cL round golden bottle. Pours a super dark black/reddish brown. Dark tan froathy foam head. Aroma is full of chocolate. A bit of roasted malt. Flavor is very coffee like with a creamy texture. Alldaydrinker (557), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA Jul 22, 2007 Pours a rich brown colour with very little tan head that disapates quickly. Aroma of alcohol, dark fruits, and dark chocolate. Initial taste is creamy and alcohol apparency with coffee and chocolate that linger on the palate. Slight dry finish with lasting palate. Slayer85 (582), Firenze, Italy Jul 18, 2007 Bottled. A black beer with a fine light brown head. Nice aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Overall the flavour is sweet with coffee and chocolate but it ends on a good bitterness. Very creamy mouthfeel. Medium body, long finish. Surely a very good beer. badlizard (2325), Berkeley, California, USA Jul 16, 2007 500 mL bottle. Dark brown with creamy tan head. Roasty chocolate aroma and taste with a creamy palate. Better than I expected. TheGrandMaster (1846), Auckland, New Zealand Jul 13, 2007 Bottle at the Olde Jerusalem Tavern in Farrington (London), poured dark with a foamy brown head. A roasted malt aroma with soem fruit - a little musty though. A rish and strong palate, plenty of alcohol, very that toasted flavour again. The mustiness is there, but becomes enjoyably creamy through the swallow. One of the better St Peters brews. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 5, 2007 Updated: Aug 21, 2009Opaque black with a huge, creamy head. Aroma of chocolate, sour cherries, and old leather. Flavor is mostly dry-sour fruit and leather; has some chocolate, salt, chewing tobacco, and some other interesting flavors that I can’t quite put a name to. Tastes very much like a Flanders Ale mixed with a cream stout. Nice, but I don’t think this is what was intended; think this one got infected or oxidized. I liked it anyway, and will try again if I get the chance. Palate is medium-bodied and fairly smooth.
