DATE TASTED: April 25, 2014... GLASSWARE: Guinness vintage tulip... OCCASION: celebrating a one-day work week! APPEARANCE: jet black body; pours a fizzy brown head that settles in a hurry; sporadically disperses and forms a thin brown line; lacing is thin as well (gets a bump for the bottle, a quaintly antique shape... AROMA: intense, lactic, almost pungent impact with charcoal, peat and chocolate--a swirl of stoutly aromas... PALATE: mildly smooth; a bit oily and liquidy; active and medium-bodied; a bit soda-esque, but not as creamy as hoped for...TASTE: vanilla and milk mix playfully on the tongue; peaty and a bit smoky too--more complex than expected... OVERALL: a working manís stout, brisk and flat and medium-bodied enough to command attention--a winner, but not among the immortals Iíve imbibed recently...

Dark with a thick head that lasts nicely. Malty, some ash, chocolate and vanilla. Didnít do a great deal for me but it was certainly very smooth and having not bothered to look at the label I had no idea it was 6.5%.

Bottle, 500ml. Black colour with a medium brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and fresh citrus. Flavour is very malty with cocoa. Some woody notes. Dark chocolate on the palate with a little bitterness. Light to moderate carbonation. Alcohol evident but not too much. Really tasty and smooth on the palate.

Dark espresso like color with quite thick head. Creamy aroma and taste mixed of cream chocolate and coffee. Quite soft on the palate with noticeable alcohol taste. Not much aftertaste. Not my kind of beer exactly.
