Charming bottle: Black with tan head. Roasted malt aroma with some espresso. Taste same with dark chocolate and licorice flavours. Creamy with some bitterness. A pleasure from start to finish.

(16.9oz bottle) pours a deep light-impenetrable black with nice tan head that fades quickly. Nose is very complex with berries7 chocolate, and light roasted coffee. Taste follows with fruity esters7 creamy chocolate and coffee. Lacks the bitterness I typically hate in this style so I’m loving it. Palette finish is so creamy and chocolatey, really great. A great surprise for me since it was my second choice when they were out of my first.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with creamy tan head. Nose is rich dark malt, some nut, coffee and slight alcohol as well. Taste is smooth, creamy roasted nut, black coffee, very dark bittersweet chocolate. Smooth drinker with a moderate amount of complexity. Not bad.

Dark black body with a thin tan/light brown head. Smells of some chocolate, malt, and honey. Low carbonation. Good lacing. Taste of bakers chocolate with a light coffee flavor. Leaves a soft bitter aftertaste which is pleasing. Very smooth to drink. Not a watered down stout at all. Overall really good beer that I’ll drink over and over.

Bottle. Pours a pitch black with a tan head. I can smell it from across my desk! Simply reeks of black coffee and chocolate with some fruity tones, sweet. Taste is chocolate malt with black coffee with a nice light bitterness. Such a nice strong and balanced flavor here. Palate is heavy and creamy. This beer is like comfort food! I concur with MrRoss’s rating under this one where he mentions the sexy bottle :)

Wow! This poured an impenetrable, near-as-dammit black colour. Blacker than Toby’s it was. Not much head to speak of, just an ever so think skin of tan. Aroma smelt like coffee and malt and chocolate, in a very good way. And wasn’t the taste just the same, in a heroic, delicious way as well. Grand, smooth mouthfeel and not at all thin like some other stouts. Kudos for the usual sexy bottle (like a hip flask). Tasty and satisfying through and through. Too bad we don’t have 9.5’s on the ratings scale.
