Dark mahogany with ruby hues around the edges. Two finger coffee colored head dissipates quickly, and very little lace is left behind.
Espresso and chocolate aroma. There is an underlying sweetness that reminds me of chocolate covered cherries or blueberries
Roasty coffee and sweet creamy chocolate flavors.
Finish is long and bittersweet.
I was quite surprised. After trying the Golden Ale, which I thought was average at best, I was expecting a mediocre stout. Not the case. This was excellent. Will definitely buy again thebeertourist (2777), Oslo, Norway

Espresso and chocolate aroma with some underlying berries. Great chocolate and berries flavours, some espresso towards the finish. Good body. A great stout. andrewtroth (25), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 22, 2007 Very nice. Opaque with almost no head. Smooth and creamy, not at all bitter. A good solid beer. strangaj (229), West Chester, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 21, 2007 Pours almost black with a butterscotch head. Aroma has a predominant roast flavor. Taste is full of roast, medium to full bodied, but a bit watery. What I like is that this beer has a smooth finish, not too dry, not too bitter. I’ve got to say that this was a very pleasant experience wilderthanyou (413), Guelph, Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 20, 2007 Solid Pitch Black, beige head that disappeared very quickly and left behind a faint ring. Aroma not strong but pleasing. Scents of coffee, and like, what I imagine a toasted cherry or something would smell like, I don’t have a refined nose or anything so it’s hard to tell. A very tasty beer, i’m impressed, this beer has skyrocketed to almost the very top of my favorites list. Flavors of coffee, and licorice are most noticable, with notes of dark unsweetend chocolate. I really can’t stress how much I am enjoying this beer. Top Notch michael-pollack (2642), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 18, 2007 500ml Bottle: Strong aroma of chocolate, alcohol, cherry, and cream. Smells a lot like Weyerbacher Raspberry Imperial Stout. Poured black with a small brown head that diminished quickly. No lacing. Opaque. Flavor is medium sweet, and lightly bitter. Tastes strongly of chocolate and cream. Also a nice hop presence. Starts with sweet chocolate, then progresses to a nice hoppy bitter middle, and finishes with a blend of the two. Medium body. Slick and creamy texture. Very nice mouth feel. Average carbonation. Long, bittersweet chocolate finish. Overall, good, but a little too sweet for me. Canadianlush (169), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Pours a nice thick black with a thin creamy tan head than could have hung around longer. Aroma is loaded with dark chocolate and toffee. Very good balance. Sweet entry with a short bitter aftertaste that will have you reaching for more. Could use more carbonation but I’d still buy another one. dirkules (613), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 13, 2007 bubbly carbonated head is very active and the drink runs a solid black. Hints of the dark chocolatey malt are certainly in the nose. On the palate the taste is a bit more smoky and salty with enough of the traditional creamy chocolate as a companion. Musty. A good stand alone beer, but lacking in the sweet stout echelon.
