michael-pollack (2602), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 18, 2007 500ml Bottle: Strong aroma of chocolate, alcohol, cherry, and cream. Smells a lot like Weyerbacher Raspberry Imperial Stout. Poured black with a small brown head that diminished quickly. No lacing. Opaque. Flavor is medium sweet, and lightly bitter. Tastes strongly of chocolate and cream. Also a nice hop presence. Starts with sweet chocolate, then progresses to a nice hoppy bitter middle, and finishes with a blend of the two. Medium body. Slick and creamy texture. Very nice mouth feel. Average carbonation. Long, bittersweet chocolate finish. Overall, good, but a little too sweet for me. Canadianlush (169), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA Feb 14, 2007 Pours a nice thick black with a thin creamy tan head than could have hung around longer. Aroma is loaded with dark chocolate and toffee. Very good balance. Sweet entry with a short bitter aftertaste that will have you reaching for more. Could use more carbonation but I’d still buy another one. dirkules (613), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 13, 2007 bubbly carbonated head is very active and the drink runs a solid black. Hints of the dark chocolatey malt are certainly in the nose. On the palate the taste is a bit more smoky and salty with enough of the traditional creamy chocolate as a companion. Musty. A good stand alone beer, but lacking in the sweet stout echelon. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Feb 10, 2007 Poured dark brown with pale highlites and a semi-creamy off-white head. Aroma of tar, licorice, some bitter hops, some bittersweet chocolate. Flavor is very bitter and roasty with the flavors of tobacco and licorice standing out, leading to a dry roasty finish of coffee grounds. Not very sweet, felt a bit more thin than smooth. Good strong flavors, but in the end a tad too bitter and roasty without a lot of balance to make it very drinkable, or worth a second bottle. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Feb 3, 2007 Bottle, 6.5%. Almost black colour, dark brown head. Fizzy beer, but the head is still semi-stable. The flavour is a bit sweet, but very pleasant. Has some sweet liquorice. Not alcoholic, but it seems to warm. Very late roasted flavour, perhaps a little rye bread. OK carbonation, pleasant to drink. Overall, a very flavourful beer which is still very drinkable. RichardWilding (190), London, Greater London, England Jan 30, 2007 Bottled. Black, beige head. Liquorice, chocolate and roasty aroma. Flavour is creamy, with some coffee and roastiness. Smooth mouthfeel, alcohol is disguised well. faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Jan 29, 2007 Bottle. Deep black colour with a short off-white ehad. Aroma of very roasty malts and bitter coffee. Bit flat mouthfeel. The flavour has burnt caramel, roasty malts almost burned malts though not so powerful, roasty coffee, dark chocolate with some sweetness. The finish is mildly burned with a soft bitterness. conor23 (110), Elgin, Illinois, USA Jan 27, 2007 Smells like soy sauce, kind of looks like it too. Very sweet and barely any carbonation. Strong malt flavor and some smokiness. Very smooth.
