Poured dark brown with pale highlites and a semi-creamy off-white head. Aroma of tar, licorice, some bitter hops, some bittersweet chocolate. Flavor is very bitter and roasty with the flavors of tobacco and licorice standing out, leading to a dry roasty finish of coffee grounds. Not very sweet, felt a bit more thin than smooth. Good strong flavors, but in the end a tad too bitter and roasty without a lot of balance to make it very drinkable, or worth a second bottle.

Bottle, 6.5%. Almost black colour, dark brown head. Fizzy beer, but the head is still semi-stable. The flavour is a bit sweet, but very pleasant. Has some sweet liquorice. Not alcoholic, but it seems to warm. Very late roasted flavour, perhaps a little rye bread. OK carbonation, pleasant to drink. Overall, a very flavourful beer which is still very drinkable.

Bottled. Black, beige head. Liquorice, chocolate and roasty aroma. Flavour is creamy, with some coffee and roastiness. Smooth mouthfeel, alcohol is disguised well.

Bottle. Deep black colour with a short off-white ehad. Aroma of very roasty malts and bitter coffee. Bit flat mouthfeel. The flavour has burnt caramel, roasty malts almost burned malts though not so powerful, roasty coffee, dark chocolate with some sweetness. The finish is mildly burned with a soft bitterness.

Smells like soy sauce, kind of looks like it too. Very sweet and barely any carbonation. Strong malt flavor and some smokiness. Very smooth.

Chocolate nose with hints of coffee. Opaque with very little head. Plenty of chocolate with significant smokiness detectable in the aftertaste. The intro is malty and smooth followed by a bitter finish. Some carbonation with a very smooth mouthfeel and a noticeable amount of alcohol. Good cold weather beer.

Delightful aroma - seems a mix of chocolate and coffee. Nearly black color, but a halogen lamp shows beautiful ruby hilites. No head developed. Flavor starts with chocolate, and moves on to roasted malt and coffee. The hop rises to balance out the other flavors. Amazingly slightly sweet and simultaneously dry. Mouthfeel is more than medium. Very smooth, dare we say creamy? The finish finally seems to be roasted malt balanced by noticeable hoppy bitterness. Excellent.
