molassesfan (201), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jan 6, 2007 Pours dark red with a decent off-white head. Aroma of chocolate and soy. Tastes like dark cacao bars. Bitter hop finish. Interesting. Marsiblursi (1631), Göteborg, Sweden Jan 4, 2007 (Bottle) Pours dark, dark red to black. Roasted, chocolate pudding aroma and a lot of dry elements such as cocoa and coffee. Hints of smoke, sweet pears and dark bread. Maybe some liquorice and shell fish. Creamy mouthfeel with tones of coholate and coffee. Some salt and dark bread with smokey hints. Rooney31 (42), USA Jan 3, 2007 Bottle: Smells of chocolate, licorice, smokey malts, coffee and tastes of the same. Very smoothe bitter finish. Good stout! andyhite (290), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Jan 3, 2007 thick malty caramel aroma dominates my nose, also a touch of peanut butter and dark chocolate. i kinda cheated on this one and tasted it before taking a good look at it and sniffing it out. the taste is a refreshing sweet stout with a minute amt of dryness on the finish. unfortunately, i didn’t see much head on this pour, and i was beginning to think it was out of date. there’s a little more carb than say, newcastle, but that’s about it. the flavor is still there though. it’s odd. not my fav, but definitely good for a stout. Fin (3382), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Dec 27, 2006 Bottle, Majestic, Bicester, 23-12-06 in a St Peters mixed pack of four different dark beers. Poured pretty much black, some bitter chocolate aroma’s, taste was a little more restrained chocolate becoming more milk chocolatey but there were some coffee hints in a decent stout. BT (85), Newtown, Connecticut, USA Dec 16, 2006 Poured cold into a pint glass very dark with a big creamy, nut colored head that disappeared quickly. Wonderfully full aroma of roasted malts, coffee, cocoa, bitter, and sour. First sip of cold beer was sour and disturbing, then it quickly turned into roasted coffee, cocoa, and malts again. Waited for it to warm up, but the only change was that the sourness lingered more. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Dec 13, 2006 16.9 oz bottle. Poured black with thin brown head. The aroma is mostly cream soda with lesser amounts of roasted and burnt malts. The flavor starts off semi sweet with coffee, roasted malts, a sense of cream soda and the introduction to the burnt and chocolate malts that follow. The rest of the taste into the after-bit is a rather nice mixture of burnt and chocolate malts. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Dec 3, 2006 50 cl bottle. Dark brown colour with a little white head. Aroma of mild liquoirice, mlat and some roastedness too. Also mild roasted flavour with hints of malt and sweetness.
