A very nice, coffee falvored, hopped beer. A very satisfying beer. Not overwhelmingly anything, but at least satisfying.

I enjoyed this stuff. Poured a dark brown with a pretty good (but fizzy) tan head. Nice chocolate, coffee, malt, caramel aroma. Flavors of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, hops, a little fruit, and oats. Medium mouthfeel.

It came in a bottle shaped like a pint whiskey flask, I couldn’t resist. The first pour was into a 12 oz. glass. The head disappeared before I set the bottle down. A strong malt flavor filled and coated my mouth. It was smooth with strong coffee and chocolate characteristics. The late arriving hops mellowed out the flavorand left a pleasant aftertaste. It seemed flat, lacking in carbonation. Foreshadowed by the lack of a head. Perhaps I had a bad bottle.

Dark brown, almost black, with a thick ligt brown foam. Tones of licorice, coffee and chocolate. Medium to full body with long bitter finish.

Pours a thick black with a flimsy but very tall light brown head. Smells more of chocolate than it tastes. Earthy hazelnut, chocolate and coffee with fruity undertones. Leaves a bit of a lingering bitterness, but worth it. Very drinkable and enjoyable and the flask bottle is a nice touch.

Over here on the West Coast, we have a lot of hoppy beers. Thus, when I think stout beer, I think of lots of bitter. This was a lot smoother than what I am used to, and I enjoyed that. It had the coffee and chocolate, but with a gentle approach.
