hayden1215 (305), Ohio, USA May 25, 2006 Black in color with a small quickly diminishing head. Aroma is licorice, chocolate with a hint of coffee. Flavor is sweet with notes of coffee, chocolate and raisins. Finish is fairly bitter and creamy smooth. Warms you up, yes! kimcgolf (824), Dacula, Georgia, USA May 23, 2006 Pours to a coal black, with a dark tan head that diminishes fairly quickly, decent acing. Srong malty aroma of chocolate and caramel, with a hint of nuts. Taste was mostly chocolate, and a little watery at first, but alcohol crept in as it warnmed. A nice smooth finish made this a very enjoyable beer. ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA May 23, 2006 500 ml bottle poured a translucent reddish black with a minimal brown head. Aromas of bakers chocolate, nuts, roasted malt and a hint of dark fruit. Palate was full bodied and smooth. Flavors of bitter chocolate, roasted malt and a hint of coffee with a lingering bitter finish. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA May 22, 2006 A stellar beer. Near-midnight pour with an oily brown topping. Aroma is thick with chocolate and nuts. Smooth mouthfeel. Taste is dark chocolate up front that fades into a roasted malt finish. Good hop bitterness in the end. WISEGUY572 (1244), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 19, 2006 Not very interesting. Almost black, but with almost no head. Thin and dead in the mouth. Some coffee, a little malt, but mostly just bitternes and a lng bitter finish. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA May 14, 2006 Bottle at Beer on the Pier, Chicago. Strong milk chocolate aroma, but which has the possibility of being dry. At the fest there were multi colored stage lights and the red light wa s the only one that got through when held up to the light. Otherwise, nearly opaque. Thin, light tan head. Not much head or lace. Creamy, milky mouthfeel. Very good. Much better than their English (Organic) Ale. Very solid. STEPHENDR (478), California, USA May 13, 2006 Dark brown appearance – little head - nose is dark roast coffee and trace of port wine –medium body – initial taste is sweet, malts, coffee and end bitter in the mouth - aftertaste coffee with milk added jacobwennbom (274), Uppsala, Sweden May 11, 2006 Pours black with large dirty top. Flavours of smoke, hops and whiskey. Very intresting indeed. Also quite sweetish. A bit thin which takes down the palate for me. Aroma had traces of coffee and hops.
