ghorsche (48), Berkeley, California, USA Feb 18, 2006 500ml bottle. Poured black with a coating of tan bubbles. Aroma of toasty malts.. something interesting in the nose I can’t quite place. Flavor is strongly bitter, definitely dark toasty malts again. Notes of raspberry and coffee. Palate is lightly carbonated and creamy. Sweet and lightly bitter finish. Imminently drinkable but nothing to write home about given the price. NotWthoutStout (30), Wharton, New Jersey, USA Feb 18, 2006 Bottle - Poured black as coal (as it should be) head was a bit on the small side probably due to the quite watery pour. Flavour is pleasently complex and fairly well balanced. Very soft & smooth but again just a little too watery (maybe a little oatmeal would do this brew wonders...) notes of dark chocolate, coffee, plums, licorice. Finished maybe a little on the bitter side with a nice warming from the alchohol which was almost like getting a shot of cognac with every mouthful. A very nice brew that I will be buying again... jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Feb 18, 2006 Light aromas of bttersweet chocolate and nutty coffee. The beer is a dark coffee color in the glass with zero hear out of the bottle. Still, it leaves a little lacing on the sides of the glass. The debatable point here is palate. The beer is light and somewhat thin, but it leaves a long finish of bitter chocolate. Carbonation is a tight, but a little much. There is flavor in this beer, echoing the aromas, but it is underwhelming. Different from other sweet stouts, and not as good. ElPresidente1984 (173), Maine, USA Feb 16, 2006 pours dark brown/black with small head. aroma is of sweet malts and molasas. sweet coffee flavors dominate, with hints of bitter chocolate, slightly hoppy bitter finnish. leaves a coffee taste in the mouth. nice smooth mouth feel, goes down like smooth silk. vern0159 (6), Suwanee, Georgia, USA does not count Feb 13, 2006 Very dark, as it should be. Little to no head. Chocolate aroma is instantly detected. Picked this beer up in Cost Plus in Buford, room temp. Might have tasted better if they had kept it cold. The taste improved as I drunk it. Very good cream stout. I’ll have this again. ogivlado (3036), Zagreb, Croatia Feb 10, 2006 Bottled(500ml). -unusual looking bottle more for gin than for beer, deep dark coloured, little brown head, roasted malt nose, bitter dark chocolate and roasted coffee aroma, very aromatic strong bittersweet finish GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Feb 8, 2006 This deeply saturated, high viscosity sweet stout is the best in it’s class. Pours a thick black tar with a rich, sweet, sliky texture upfront. What I really like about it is the hopsy character that comes forth on the finish. The hops try to hang on as the nectar goes down creating this complex texture shift from silky smooth to velvet. I can honestly say I have never experienced such a shift in any other brew. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommended. bluevegie (2169), Perth, Australia Feb 4, 2006 Deep black body with ruby tinges but a poor head - light tan, compact and hardly lasting. Yeast in the aroma also some cigarette butts and liquorice. Smooth medium taste with burnt coffee notes, some milk chocolate and light hops on the finish
