This was a great stout, but it could have been SO much better. The aroma was intense, with notes of coffee, chocolate, raisin and figs. The appearance was EXACTLY as a stout should be, which is black as midnight. I held it up to an 100w light and I could barely see some reddish hints at the bottom of the glass. If light don’t shine thru, you know you are on to something good. The mouthfeel was a bit on the watery side, which was a bit of a turnoff. I like my stouts thick and chewy, but this was a bit thin. Flavor was blasts of chocolate, coffee but very smooth and little to no carbonation to it. It went down smooth as silk. IMO, a very good example of a sweet stout. It wasn’t quite on the "cream" side as the name states, but no matter. The Brit’s do this one up nice, so I recommend this to try.

Brown head thinly sits upon a sea of darkness. The smeell of coffee from a french cafe rises into the air. A chocolate sundae rolled in mud washes down with a shot of brandy. splash!

Dark opaque brown, almost black. Minimal beige head. Lots of buttery milk chocolate in the aroma, faint coffee in background. Flavor is all chocolate up front, gently fades to a coffee bitterness in the finish. Long sweet chocolate aftertaste.

Draft at the Jerusalem Tavern. The best stout I have tried! Nice and dark, proper head, coffee and molasses. Try it if you can find it!
