GG (1612), NorCal, California, USA Feb 2, 2006 This was a great stout, but it could have been SO much better. The aroma was intense, with notes of coffee, chocolate, raisin and figs. The appearance was EXACTLY as a stout should be, which is black as midnight. I held it up to an 100w light and I could barely see some reddish hints at the bottom of the glass. If light don’t shine thru, you know you are on to something good. The mouthfeel was a bit on the watery side, which was a bit of a turnoff. I like my stouts thick and chewy, but this was a bit thin. Flavor was blasts of chocolate, coffee but very smooth and little to no carbonation to it. It went down smooth as silk. IMO, a very good example of a sweet stout. It wasn’t quite on the "cream" side as the name states, but no matter. The Brit’s do this one up nice, so I recommend this to try. peter (385), Dallas, Texas, USA Feb 2, 2006 Updated: Mar 5, 2006Brown head thinly sits upon a sea of darkness.
