JohnnyOS (646), Golden, Wisconsin, USA Dec 29, 2005 Pours very thick black with a small brown head that fades very very quickly. Strong dark roasted malt aroma with some pronounced dark chocolate sweetness. Taste is very much a dark chocolate coupled with molasses, with only a dash of the sweetness you’d expect.
Very developed body, but not quite full bodied... it’s missing something A bit of surprise carbonation muddled with bittersweet is barely evident at the finish.
Very good. oh6gdx (8798), Vasa, Finland Dec 29, 2005 Bottled. Black colour, small brown head. Strong smoky and roasted malt in aroma along with dark chocolate. Chocolate, roast and some toffeeish notes in flavour, aftertaste is very smoky (smoke from wet burnt wood) and a bit hoppy. badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Dec 28, 2005 average app for a stout...black with wispy white head...aroma is full of chocolate...coffee and toffee hints as well....flavor is a bit of a let-down, but not bad by any means....it is lacking the cream and nutty flavors that i have come to love in a cream stout....this reminds me more of a porter, not a cream stout....palate is okay, but somewhat watery... TBone (6675), Pori, Finland Dec 28, 2005 Bottled (BB 06/2006)
Almost opaque black color, small expresso head. Berry-like malty and chocolaty aroma. Medium to full bodied. Typical St Peter’s roasted malty flavor - chocolaty, smooth mouthfeel. Finish and aftertaste are hoppy with some roasted notes. slabonator (29), Dallas, Texas, USA Dec 18, 2005 Had this bottled beer a few days ago. Nice packaging and good color. Not sure why the head is so minimal. Little to know carbonation. This beer has all the flavor of a great stout - chocolate, coffee and bittersweet. Not creamy, but good with some bitterness at the end. stouby (1932), Holbaek, Denmark Dec 14, 2005 Bottle, at home.
Dark with light brown head, fully diminishing, no lacings. Aroma moderate malty and hoppy (burnt, licorice, dark chocolate). Flavor moderate sweet and bitter, long duration. Light to medium body, oily, soft carbonated. RedHaze (370), Where the hell am I?, Nebraska, USA Dec 11, 2005 Pours black with ruby highlights around the edges, has a thin tan head that settles to a thin ring, and doesn’t leave much lacing.
Smell; has a bit of an earthy smell, with only hints of dark chocolate and coffee, There’s also a little bit of a soy sauce smell lingering in the background.
Taste; slitghtly burned coffee, and the earthiness I noted in the smell comes out in the finish along with a little sweet chocolate. Mouthfeel was nicely thick and creamy, with vary little carbonation.
Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 11, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) Very dark with only a glimpse of light shining through leaving a tint of red. Greasy, brownish head. Rather heavy in alcohol for a stout, but doesn’t appear alcoholic - actually rather a bit watery. Very solid bitterness with a discreet underlying sweetness. 100203
