blatz (138), Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Florida, USA Dec 7, 2005 pretty good -- tan head of medium duration. shiny black body. smooth taste but not as much roasted flavor as I would have liked. undercarbed a tad too. lack of any discernable aftertaste. kinda tough to finish -- just didn’t have anything to pull me back. but it was decent enough -- I just doubt I’d ever buy it again -- Sam Adams Cream Stout is better. And frankly, I think my stout is too. DewBrewer (265), Austin, Texas, USA Dec 2, 2005 50cL bottle. Small tan head on top of dark brown to black ale. Bitter, roasty aroma with some sweetness. The flavor is bitter, roasty, and coffee-like. Honestly it’s not that sweet, even after it warms but it is a delicious beer. Had some of their beers at the Jerusalem Tavern in London. Highly recommended bar if you are in the area. Thumbs up. yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Nov 30, 2005 Bottled. Deep brown beer with a small brown head. Aroma is mostly english licorice, with the usual stout-aromas too. Flavor adds peat and cigar-box. Creamy mouthfeel with roasted finish. (051104) Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Nov 29, 2005 I was surprised how good this stout was, considering I usually dont like sweet stouts, and everything else from St Peters has been less than average for me. Pours a nice black (a bit on the light side) small head, leaves a thin oily film. Aroma is similar to Mackesons- sweet, light roast and some chocolate. Sweet smooth flavor with a nice nutty light roasted aftertaste. gatorbeer (148), Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, USA Nov 27, 2005 Updated: Jan 5, 2006Pours black. Aroma of cocoa and vanilla. Creamy taste with strong flavors of cocoa and vanilla. An excellent stout. henry3r (586), Wichita, Kansas, USA Nov 25, 2005 The bottle poured a virtually black beverage with almost no head at all but what was there was tan. There was almost no lacing as well. The aroma was a complex mixture of caramel and dark chocolate malt with some light earthy yeast and a hint of plum in the background. The body was quite full with a soft carbonation and a slightly dry texture. The flavor started off slightly bitter and was quite consistent throughout. The finish was long and had a nice light alcohol warmth to it. ezra456 (39), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Nov 18, 2005 beautiful bottle. poured a beautiful dark brown/mahogany color. very little head, sadly. exquisite oatmeal/vanilla nose. tastes of roasted barely, oatmeal, and a little vanilla in the aftertaste. well put together. overall, a great purchase for anyone who enjoys a flavorful stout. barleyPops (1079), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA Nov 18, 2005 500ml bottle courtesy of Walleye in a recent trade. wonderful aroma of toasted oatmeal. dark brown with a ruby edge but virtually no head. flavor is of roasty, toasty caramel malt, oatmeal, hints of molasses and chocolate and a very nice hop bitterness. very enjoyable stout, thanks Jim.
