Poured as black as used oil with a quickly dissipating dark tan head. Had somewhat of a sour belgian beer smell, not quite like other stouts. Very thin palate, roasty malt, coffee and caramel taste. The nose has raisin, chocolate, a bit of alcohol, light hops (grass perhaps?), and coffee notes. Tart on the tongue with almost a bit of sour milk taste. Coffee, bitter chocolate, a touch of smoke, raisin, and hops (grass again?) on the palate. Medium carbonation with a medium-rich mouthfeel. Malty, smoky, faint chocolate and vanilla aromas. Thick, faintly carbonated. Slightly smoky taste with chocolate and caramel. Flavor is mostly sweet chocolate, some roasted malt and vanilla, and a little cherry and raisin. Creamy with low carbonation. Aromas of roastiness, chocolate, lighter coffee, and caramel. Tastes of roastiness, chocolate, and coffee. The Etruscan (304), Tuscany, Italy Apr 26, 2009 Black colour. Light brown creamy head. Aroma is malty with banana, chocolate and light coffee notes. flavor is moderately nmalty with coffee and raisins tones, ending in a roasty finish. Medium bodied.
