Here we are, facing my second plain Stout of the night. I normally end up with Sweet Stouts, or Imperial Stouts, or Dry Stouts, or Foreign Stouts, so it’s nice to drink plain old Stouts. The best beers around, and this is one of the best of the best. Full pint bottle, advertised as a Cream Stout. Great shape to the bottle, which is not too important but great for the appeal. Taste is amazing, superior to just about any other beer out there.

Bottle from Whole Foods in Haight Ashbury in San Francisco. One of the best stouts you’ll ever have. Don’t miss this one.

St. Peter’s Cream Stout 1/2 liter bottle Medium pour in an English Pint Recent brewing?(L7025 18:31), creamed 05/07 Poured black with a huge light brown frothy rocky mostly lasting head with good lacing. Smelt of strong sweet black licorice, fruity esters ( almost bananas), chocolate, cola. Taste was upfront strong sweet and bitter black licorice, cola, dried dark fruit and chocolate and burnt grain followed by a strong to harsh bitter burnt grain taste and moderate sweet raisins and molasses, and light grass hops on a long finish. Palate was medium to full bodied, creamy, softly carbonated and moderately astringent. Overall, this is a cream stout with lots of guts. The bitterness of a stout is still there, only a notch above the sweet aspect of the creaminess. Great balance, and a classic in my book. I only wish they hadn’t changed their bottle to a more classic round shape. I say go back to the old oval flask looking bottle!

Bottle. Pours a pitch black with a tan head. I can smell it from across my desk! Simply reeks of black coffee and chocolate with some fruity tones, sweet. Taste is chocolate malt with black coffee with a nice light bitterness. Such a nice strong and balanced flavor here. Palate is heavy and creamy. This beer is like comfort food! I concur with MrRoss’s rating under this one where he mentions the sexy bottle :)

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2012 Bardzo dobry i przepyszny ciemny stout. Kolor nieprzejrzysty, głęboko czarny z brązową mocną pianą, która wychodzi poza krańce szklanicy. Smak Czekoladowy, gorzko wytrawny, palony słód intensywnie wyczuwalny. Polecam

Pours a dark black, nearly opaque. Thick and foamy dark tan head with good retention and just a bit of lace. Intense smoked malts with some dark chocolate and licorice, almost picking up a charred whisky-like aroma Roasted malts with a smoky bitterness. Flavors of bitter-sweet chocolate, charcoal, butterscotch, and a bit if sweet milk-like sweetness. Finishes slightly sweet with a smoky malt finish. Very light carbonation, medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Seems like it needs just a bit more carbonation to give it a bite. Overall an enjoyable brew. Smoky yet sweet with a bitter chocolaty finish. My only complaint was the mouthfeel was a little off for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2015 It is a really nice beer. There is a perfect side between coffee, malt and it is creamy and a bit sweet. There is a weak carbonation and the foam is consistent and a bit yellow, brown. It is a nice experiencr. and the chocolate is present. it is a kind of complex beer.

Pours thick black color with creamy beige head. Beautiful smell with subtle sweetness to it - caramel, tofee, milk... It’s like you’re smelling cake, not a beer. Lovely. Full body with soft carbonation. Very creamy and very smooth. Taste is very rich. Caramel, milk, roasted coffee, toffee. A bit smoked with a very subtle bitternes to it. Faint notes of alcohol and dark chocolate are present in the aftertaste. Finish is long and dry. Overall, this is an outstanding stout. Up there with the best of them, this one is an absolute must have. Awesome!
