| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Oct 31, 2005 Black with almost no head. The lacing is dark brown. Aroma is strong coffee and heavy roasted malt with a hint of chocolate. Aroma smells thick. Has a great creamy texture. It almost seemed a little wattery at first, but that is the creamy texture that just makes it go down oh so smooth. Flavor is coffee and chocolate with some caramel and a hint of vanilla. Quite good, but not worth the $4.49 a bottle. Quetzalcoatl (153), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

This beer is really nice on the tongue, feels just like a stout should – thick but not overdone. The flavor is a fine blend of dark malty goodness and hop flavor. Enjoyable. ruggedman (626), Portland, Maine, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 8, 2006 This is my old stand by. I can’t believe i haven’t rated this beer...I probably drink it more than any other. Anyway it’s got a great smooth creamy mouthfeel, a wonderful malty and coffee/chocolate aroma. The flavor is nice and dry...mildly sweet at first. Finishes better than most with a signiture bittersweet chocolate taste that lasts for just the right amount of time. Great beer. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 9, 2005 Was just telling yayforbeer that the last few stouts I’ve come across have been rather *rough* around the edges. This too is at first. Mellows out a bit. Pitch black colour....stout..duh! no massive head, but a faint one that sits around for about as long as it takes to drink this. Served out of a pinter0.9oz. The bottle looks a bit medicinal, though kinda cool. Taste is a very burnt cast away of chocolates, hops and malts with a tit of bitter sweet to perhaps elude to a cream? i guess it works as I find myself enjoying this.I’ve tried their organic ale, and I believe Ill try the others now that 2 beers have passed tha test....oh and it smells like coffee. yes..................................update. Publix corn chips and Publix brand salsa consumed while drinking this beer creates a euphoric phenomenom i can only describe as lighter fluid and freshly lit charcol. lamas (737), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA

Aroma is of toffee, brown sugar and rich coffee. Taste is of toffee and roasted malts. Somewhat creamy. A little dry but still very tasty. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 16, 2004 Chalky chalky hard mineralized flavors, bitter dark chocolate and some fuggley sweetness - this is just heaven for me - a session sweet stout if it weren’t so expensive - restrained bitterness, delicious. The body was light but not thin, the head was pockmarked bone ivory. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA

Strong notes of coffee and chocolate in the nose. Malty body is smooth and creamy - nicely balanced by the spicy English hops. Would definitely buy again.
