"English Halcyon malts are used together with lager malts. Golding hops provide the bitterness and aroma. The result is a highly distinctive light, golden ale similar in character to a full bodied Czech lager."

Poured into a perfect pint. 3.25 A: Clear medium yellow color. One finger o frothy off-white head. Retention is a touch below average and a short ring of lacing is left. 3.5 S: Mineral is the foremost aroma in this. Grainy maltiness follows, then herbal and earthy hops, then a touch of butter, and finally, some breadiness. 3.0 T: Moderate bitterness sticks out immediately. Mineral and grainy malts next. Herbal and earthy hops. Minor amounts of butter and breadiness. There’s also a bit of corn in there, which throws off the taste a bit. Not quite clean flavor, but good enough. 3.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Lightly creamy with a heavier chewiness. 3.25 D: It’s decent, but I vastly prefer the English Ale over this.

Pours hazy golden with no head. Smell is gentle, slightly sweet. Taste is very carbonated, with some sour notes and lacking in aftertaste. Should be better.

500ml bottle (present). Orange amber, reasonable head. Vanilla malt aroma. Grain resin flavour. Bitter sweet aftertaste. Drinkable but not a god golden ale.

Towey1989 (378) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 19, 2015
Bottle. Pours a clear golden colour with a fizzy white head. Aroma of sweet grain, caramel, bready malts plus herbal and grassy hops. Taste again of grain, bready malt, grassy hops, herbal bitterness and a little metallic aftertaste. Light bodied, watery texture and some carbonation. A quite harsh grainy bitterness in the finish. Tastes more like a lager than a golden ale, ok.

Very plain beer. I really expected more from this one. It is not really bad but it does feel very plain and not special.
