A traditional English porter made with honey for a truly unique aroma and taste. A delicous mellifluous beer

Bottle. Pours dark maroon, with a small head. Weird sweetly floral aroma of anise (or the Scandinavian Kongen av Danmark sweets), together with some undefinable oakines. A rather thin, watery body. Flavour is burned, with the same strange sweetness as promised in the initial aroma.

Deep copper, amber hue. Big frothy tan head settles and lasts. Sweet floral roasted malt aroma. Bitter burnt smokey malt taste with a touch of honey and flowers. Softly carbed, medium bodied. Acidic bitter finish. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

Dark brown, tan head. Aroma is honey porter, as is the taste. Pretty watery texture. Didn’t really like this one.

Green oval bottle by 18 July 12. Too-sweet nose definitely reeks of floral honey but also artificial sweetener. Cola ruby-brown with basically no (tan) head and little carbonation. Stale bitter licorice (not quite drop but definitely that flavor) with a glob of anise and candy sugar, chocolate with honey and very light roast. Medium-full body seems heavier and sludgier. Light hops and dries out toward the end. Can’t recommend this one, though there’s a niche that will absolutely love it.

50cl bottle. Brown colour with a frothy, creamy and mostly diminishing tan head. Aroma has heavy honey traces, malty and sugary. Flavour has honey hints, moderate caramel and a sweet final with a long duration. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!

500ml bottle. Pours an almost opaque deep brown, flashed with ruby, with a small off-white head, which does not last terribly well, but does leave a little lace. The main aroma noticeable is honey, although it does seem to bring out some roasty malt notes as well. Mild floral hops are tempered by honey sweetness, leading into a body of milk chocolate malt and dominant honey. Darker malt notes make for an unusual but pleasant mix with the honey in the finish. This is quite an unusual beer. Unlike a lot of other gimmick ingredient beers, this one is not overwhelmed by that ingredient to the extent of tasting like nothing else, as is often the case with fruit beers. The honey in this one is present throughout, but it seems to blend with the other flavours rather than swamp them. On the whole I would prefer a standard porter, but I suspect this would be excellent with dessert or a fruit and cheese platter.

Flaske 0,5l fra Kilpishalli. Dyp rødbrun. Nesten ikke skum. Sterk honningaroma. Smaken er også bare honning med en viss syrlighet. Lite å glede seg over.

From a bottle in London. Dark brown with a small offwhite head. A lot of honey and some toffee aroma. Tastes a bit artificiell and sourish.

Reviewed from notes (2008). Jerusalem Tavern in London... A: Dark red with a thin off white head S: Some maltiness but mostly dark fruits which are overpowering T: Again, much like the aroma, the daark fruits are overpowering... slightly syruppy M: Kind of thin O: Not impressive... but was worth a shot
