Appearance: golden to amber. Medium head. aroma: to hops, mainly, with reminiscences of grass, hay, dry undergrowth and, maybe, pine. Flavor: dry-hoppy start and very lasting. Notes of hay, herbs, grapefruit and orange’s skin; a little slight of eucaliptus. Resinous hoppiness. Palate: light to medium body. Medium carbonation. Remark: lovely resinous hoppiness, simple but good IPA.

At Tolkien’s House. Thanks Filip! Poured a clear, full golden body with a creamy head. Buttery, malty aroma, vague veggies. What the hell? Nope, no hops there. Bitter, sweaty herbal hoppy taste. Some alcohol?! Relatively strong bitterness without proper aromatics to counter. If I were to judge First Gold from this beer, I’d have a low, low opinion about them. Seems to have that St. Peter’s house flavor going on that I can’t quite describe. Disappointing for an IPA, disappointing for an English IPA.

Bottled. Clear copper colour with a minimal off-white head. Good aroma of caramel, apple, English hops, and a touch of malt. Flavours of toffee and caramel. Smooth and warm in the mouth, with a drier, slightly smokey finish. A very good (English style) IPA.

500 ml bottle. Amber orange with a creamy beige head. Soft butterscotch malt nose. Flavor upfront is more of the same with a touch of bitter hops. Some nuttiness and grassy hops in mid taste. Creamy mouthfeel with a medium body. Nice balance and flavor. Very drinkable and characteristic of English IPA’s. Somewhat tame compared to American IPA’s, however. Still, a nice brew.

Bottle @ De Tolly Joogipood, shared with mikkvoika. Pours nice orange with big white fluffy-sticky head.Aroma is sweetish, plastic-rubbery, some herbal notes, shit. Taste is medium bitter, better tha aroma, some caramel candy, slight pine and grass, sweet after taste with some citric bitterness. Drinkable but not good IPA.

Bottle from Tesco. Pours golden, single finger white head. Aroma of grain, roast malts, hops. Taste of light grain, malts, a bit of a floral touch, pine too. Nice!

Poured into a perfect pint. 4.0 A: Clear light orange color. One and a half fingers of frothy off-white head. Retention is about average and tons of lacing is left behind. 3.5 S: This is a weird one. Instead of hops taking the stage, there’s a strong mineral component with a secondary lemon. Under that you find earthy and herbal hops. A touch of caramel, toastiness, and grainy malts. Not bad. 3.25 T: The taste also makes me question whether this is really an IPA. It’s only mildly bitter without much hoppiness otherwise. The focus is again mineral and light fruits. Toasty, grainy malts and caramel. 3.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Lightly creamy. 3.25 D: Good enough and hits the spot if you are in the mood for something English. Bottle from Seoul plaza, Bratislava. Orange golden color with medium white head. Quite bad malty aroma with notes of hops, yeast. Taste starts with lager maltiness followed by shy citrus hops. Not tasty.

Light aroma of hops with floral notes. Pours clear honeygold with a tight white thin head. Tastes understated for an ipa with floral hops but not over the top. Good.
