3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Waitrose: I was really impressed with this one. For a 3.7% beer it certainly packs a lot of flavour in there. Lots of roasted malt, a little chocolate and a lovely oily mouthfeel to it. Fantastic example of a well crafted mild.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Dark brown, minimal head. Aroma has sweet roast and light cocoa. Mild but full malty and roasty taste. When I glanced at the ABV numbers I was thinking it might turn out to be too watery but itís really not.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml Bottle: BB 23 Jan 2014. Poured into two old íHome Alesí badged Countryman glass tankards on 6 Sep 2013 (the wife wanted half).
Looked fine: dark mahogany body with a full head of off-white foam.
The aroma is all malts, slightly burnt and full on dark chocolate.
Taste wise it is also a chocolate malt lead, but it isnít that simple, there is a lot more going on. Nutty and woody, some hidden spiciness and always a semi-sweetness being suppressed by the hop content.
Very drinkable and a pleasant change from all the golden brews I seem to be having at the moment.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bit of chocolate somewhere in the mix. Some sips are a bit rank and others are reasonably reasonable. Fizzy and thin. Is it rare if you can get it in many supermarkets? I donít want to know the answer.

15th January 2012
Light haze on the darkish brown beer. Crispy palate. Small off white head. Nice dark brown malts with a trace of smoke. A little cream. Mild balancing bitterness in the 2nd half. Minerally crispy finish.
