COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular. Also available brewery conditioned and cold filtered in 500ml bottles.
Hops: Challenger and Goldings.
This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

50cl bottle. Served at 10degC. Pors pitch black with stout-like head. Malty, plesantly bitter with heavy roasted grains taste. A bit of chocolate and some cinamon. Medium bodied beer, but was quite powdery and dry in the middle. Simple, easy-drinking beer. Beautiful example of porter.

Aparênca with dark color (almost black) and low foaming. Aroma of medium roasted malt (caramel, dried fruit, etc.). Malty flavor with, but also hops. a good balance. Excellent Porter.

16.9 oz green bottle served in a Unibroue snifter (from March 2012 notes). A: Pours a clear, dark reddish brown with a small off-white head that soon dies down to a lasting island and ring; leaves spotty lacing. S: Exceptionally pleasant mix of dark fruit + chocolate + roasted malt + baked bread + a dash of spicy hops. Excellent if more subdued than I wish, given the great quality. T: Plenty of rich, roasted malt flavor here, but that’s not all. ... This is surprisingly hoppy for a English porter; enough to leave it very nicely spicy and slightly bitter. Nice roasty aftertaste. M: moderate carbonation; enough to leave the medium-body smooth but lively. Light dryness in the finish. O: A very well-crafted brew that should be sought out by fans of porters.

Bottle at home from backlog notes 07. Pours a reddish brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have mild roasted malts, chocolate, a hint of tart fruit, light herbal hops, mild bitterness to the finish, light bodied, ok but the stout is better.

Aroma is not very good.....I'm getting over a cold but it just doesn't get high points from me. I love these bottles. They're like old medicine bottles. I'm not a big fan of the beers inside though....lol. I had a grapefruit ale the other night and it wasn't a stunner either. Just not refined enough. Glad I tried it, but not going to get it again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Couleur sombre trouble. Nez de malt grillé. Goult leger de malt grillé, corps leger, m’attendais a mieux. Mais bonne qd meme.

Bottle at The Fiddler, Den Haag. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy white head. The aroma is red berry fruit, roasted malt. The flavour is medium bitter, light sweet with a smooth caramel, fruit, light hop bitter palate but with a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Dark beer, with some sweetish malty notes of coffee and cacao. Not very complex, quite easy to drink.
