KimJohansen (6676), Copenhagen V, Denmark Jun 16, 2008 Dark brown with medium beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel and coffee notes. Flavor is fairly sweet with roasted malt, caramel and coffee. AR (417), Georgia, USA Jun 15, 2008 Smooth and relatively light for a porter. The flavor is a nice combination of malts and hops, with a faint but pert spicy kick. Classy drink. ericandersnavy (1039), crossroads, Texas, USA Jun 14, 2008 bottle thanks to metzlers in denton, tx. this is an amazing looking beer. poured a brown with a red tint and a beige/tan head that would not go away. excellent lacing. the aroma had some dark roast, fruits, and caramel. this one feels good on the palate also. dont let the plain bottle fool you the quality is on the inside. DerBiermeister (504), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Jun 14, 2008 This is quality stuff. I’m Irish, so you know I have mixed feelings about the English... This stuff does cost a pretty penny, yet it is just as good as Newcastle, if not better. I love drinking this beer at room temperature. daknole (2805), Plantation, Florida, USA Jun 11, 2008 I like this but not as much as the stout. Dark dark brown, with a light tan head. coffee on the nose and tongue. A tad thin in the mouth but certainly a pretty good brew. blazingspiral (39), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Jun 4, 2008 this is a smooth, easy-drinking porter. low potency. a nice introductory taste for people who have yet to explore the wide world of craft brewing.
poured very dark brown, not entirely opaque, with a beautiful off-white head. lively carbonation. light coffee and dark rye toast in the aroma. taste is filled with roastiness, nuttiness, and sweetness. also caramel and a tangy dried fruit taste in the background. a mild grassy hops tingle creeps up mid-way through the bottle. mouthfeel is thin and watery -- the weakest part of this brew.
overall a good porter, well worth a try, but it probably won’t knock your socks off. DKTN (110), Mc Donald, Tennessee, USA Jun 1, 2008 Bottle, 500 ml. Very dark ruby with a large tan head. Roasted malt flavor with dark fruit notes. The sweet malt is nicely balanced by bittering hops on the palate. Dry finish. donteatpoop (124), Youngstown, Ohio, USA Jun 1, 2008 A very solid beer.
Pours a deep brown color with ruby highlites, bears a medium head with amazing durability and lacing.
I can’t help that think, though I have had many good porters; this one is what a porter should taste like.
Smells of malts and caramels. Tastes of dark malts and caramel, as well as light underlying hoppy tones. Delightful.
Great mouthfeel, very thick on the palate.
I would love to have this for a session drink.
