WillieV (191), Maryland, USA Mar 7, 2008 Bottle: Pours a dark brown almost black color with a minimal dark brown head. Sweet coffee dark chocolate bread scent to it. Flavor is a very good mixture of hops and dark chocolate. A very good porter. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Mar 6, 2008 Thanks for sharing Yaniv, I think. Pours a cola brown with acreamy light tan head. Flat milky nose. Lightly sweet. Soapy floral hops. A smidge of chocolate? Thin body, a bit fizzy. Not too much going on here. Lightly sweet. Skunked soapy floral hops. Lingering bitterness. Some weird uninteresting chemicals. redgold07 (308), Irving, Texas, USA Mar 6, 2008 Aroma is of roasted malt, caramel, sugar, and slightly of coffee. Pours an opaque and very dark brown with very little tan head. For some reason, this one looks like it will be thin on the mouthfeel. My immediate impression of the flavor is that it is hoppier than expected and more bitter; it doesn’t over power though. The flavor is a bit complex... in addition to the present hops, there is a definite flavor of roasted barley malt with a little chocolate. A little bread, oats, and fruit as well. There is also a strong coffee flavor. And the mouthfeel is a little on the light side. A lot of character in this beer... I quite enjoyed it.
1 pt. 0.9 oz. bottle. Allen (1285), Switzerland Mar 4, 2008 Bottled 50cl. It pours a dark ruby beer with a small mocha head. (rather pale for its style though). The nose is wonderful. There is the typical St Peter’s characteristic which can be be found in this beer: Lots of candy, honey, fudge, wild strawberries and herbs. This beer reveals some plum and a lot of roasted malt in addition. The taste is similar, though a lot more bitter and a bit cloying. Indeed, a nice strong bitterness. Soft mouthfeel nevertheless. A lot of oats showing up. Bready with candy and honey appearing again. Light bodied. Rather salty which makes this porter a bit cloying afer a few sips. Some licorice. Bitter finish with a hint of eucalyptus. A good beer. Decent taste, wonderful nose. Haslinger (640), Syracuse, New York, USA Mar 3, 2008 dark brown pour. Tastes of chocolate. A good solid example of a porter. I wouldn’t buy it again immediately but would recommend to someone looking to find an easily available solid porter. IPAndy (120), minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Feb 16, 2008 Chocolate and hazelnut aroma. Dark brown in appearance with fluffy tan head. Flavor is a bit tart, baking chocolate, and molasses. Chewy but light-medium body. Very good. WSSmiles (124), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 13, 2008 Poured nicer than it taste. Very thin and watery for a porter. I must not know what an old style porter is suppose to taste like. Surprised it added up to a 3 milljam (562), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Feb 3, 2008 Decent beer.....slight roasted character with subtle notes of toffee, caramel, and hops. Not the best porter around, but still good.
