Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available brewery conditioned and cold filtered in 500ml bottles.
This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

Pours a nice tan, ample head. Roasty flavor, but a bit watery. Overall a fairly standard porter.

[908-20071204] 1pt0.9floz. Raisiny alcohol malt aroma. Clear, dark dark red brown body with long-lasting off-white bubbles. Roasted malt flavour has a bit of a sweet background. Full body is smooth. Not bad.

1 pint 0.9 fl oz. Aroma is some what of a roasted malt aroma, grainy, a light chocolate note and a small amount of caramel. Pours a almost opaque black with a large tan head. Taste is got a decent roasty flavor, a bit of caramel, and an really off tasting to this brew. A bit of a creamy aftertaste decent. Overall, It’s pretty decent I like it.

Ok porter. Nice looking head but over all the mouithfeel was a tad bit seltzer like. Little bit of roasted malt, and a little sour.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown body with reddish hues and a bubbly, light brown head. Aroma is primarily caramel/cocoa malts. Smooth, creamy body with slight chocolate flavors, a little fizzy abd effervescent on the palate. Body and mouthfeel seem a bit on the light side. The finish is a bit sour with a coffee aftertaste.

Overall, very surprising. Rather effervescent for a porter. The smell suggested it would be very heavy, however the palate was very light and the beer was not overpowering at all. I was impressed at this differential.

500ml bottle from Majestic. Deep chestnut brown; rich caramel malt aroma; smooth smokey roasted malt flavour; dry coffee finish. Rather one-dimensional.

500ml bottle. Mid-brown with little head. Caramel aroma. Good flavour of smoky roasted malt but a poor finish and the mouthfeel is a little lacking. Certainly different from the darker porters that dominate the top of the rankings and worth checking out for that reason, but it won’t become a regular tipple for me.
