Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available brewery conditioned and cold filtered in 500ml bottles.
This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

Had this beer on 8/7/2002. Aroma is a light toasted scent with a hint of skunk Color is a deep dark amber with light carbonation and a thin head. Taste is rich and sweet. Starting with a medium body it goes down with a rich feel and a sweet flavor coming in at the end. Finish is an overly sweet taste that is backed by a tart bitterness. Its too sweet and doesn’t fit into it’s category at all.

A Mes rate: Bottle from the Jerusalem Tavern.
Rich mahogany with a decent tan head. Coffee and dark malted biscuits in the aroma with some rich pudding like stuff and a delicate smoky note. Flavour is nutty, malty and wonderfully smoky. Nice bitter chocolate. Good malt and hop balance. Nice and full, rich and chewy. Very enjoyable.

Bottle. Sweet toasted malt and a hint of baked bread on the nose. Pours dark brown with a thin white head. Flavor was mildly bitter with some roasted malt with a watery finish. Light bodied.

Pours a dark black coffee color with a super thick off white to caramel head. The aroma is mainly roasted malt and a hint of alcohol. The flavor is thin and watery, maybe a hint of malt but thats it. This is definitely nothing special.

1 pint bottle- poured semi-transparent very dark ruby brown, great formation of a frothy tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, caramel, and slightly of coffee. Hits the mouth with a nice medium body of roasted malt and a few hops, finish stops quickly however. A great porter.

Dark brown... but with garnet like highlights very attractive. Pours with a nice fluffy tan head... Chocolate, coffee and chalk with some prune like notes Very lithe in body, lots of dark malt characters somehow in balance Chocolate, some dark fruits, light coffee, some chalk and a little char. The bitterness is perfectly low to keep the finish dry and complex begging to be whetted with yet another sip. Not withstanding the greenish tinge to the bottle, I would imagine this would be a wonderful porter to discuss over pints on a fall evening Cheers!!! If this is representative of the old world porters (before the corruption) I can see the Victorian porter vats :)

Poured a translucent dark brown with ruby notes in the glass. Produces a thick, creamy, light brown head. The aroma is sweet, has an earthy caramel aroma, chocolate, coffee. Sweet caramel in the flavor, bittersweet chocolate, waxy. An OK porter.

16 ounce bottle in pint glass. Muddy dark brown with lasting tan head and lotsa lace. Very mild roasted chocolate chip cookie aroma. Mild roasted fruity flavor, very mild chocolate, and mild bitterness. Medium-light body and medim-low carbonation. Pleasingly not extreme. I imagine this is what the porters or yesteryear were like. Enjoyable and sessionable.
