AOF (282), Naperville, Illinois, USA Aug 31, 2007 Deep brown color with some hints of mahogony. Nose is bittersweet chocolate, dark roast coffee, caramel with heavy roasted malts. Bordering on bitter with a medium body. A pretty good beer if you like the style. mansquito (819), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Aug 29, 2007 Really big formidable tan-white head. Dark, but not too dark... had a little reddish hue to it as well. Slight molasses aroma. Really interesting taste. Toast, chocolate, and roasted malts in the taste. It actually had an almost smoky taste. (on a side note I drank this after the bottle said to drink it). mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Aug 28, 2007 poured a nice deep dark brown color. smelled of coffee and malt with a slight hint of sweetness. not a very thick beer yet not very thin either. i’d buy this one again definitely. whiskeykid (3), Kentucky, USA does not count Aug 27, 2007 hearty, like drinking a pint of over toasted home made bread. St. Peter’s has a very full bodied taste, smooth yet tettering towards strong (in context of porters obviously). Also, I would comment that the Aroma was appreciably rich, and did well to whet one’s sense of anticipation towards the ensuing deliciousness. TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Aug 25, 2007 Pours near black with reddish hues and a thin foamy, mostly receding tan head. Aroma of dates, nuts, chocolate and crystal malt. Taste has light notes of chocolate, brown malt, and crystal. Moderate sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with lush carbonation. ux04 (30), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA Aug 17, 2007 Not my favorite stout by any means...tasty none the less. Would enjoy more if chocolate was more present. The aftertaste to me is a bit metallic almost. Definitely worth a try.
