Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available brewery conditioned and cold filtered in 500ml bottles.
This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

Bottle. Very dark ruby, almost black color, with a thin and rapidly fading head. A little roasted aroma with chocolate and coffee. Sweet chocolate taste with a grainy, bitter finish. A little oaky. Wow, I wasn’t expecting this to be bad, but it is way better than I figured.

Pours a clear dark brown with a fairly light hear with pretty large bubbles. A little too hoppy for a porter and lacks the heaviness of malt one would wish for.

500ml bottle, consumed at fridge temp. Pours a deep reddish brown, like the color of 100 year old mahogany woodwork. No head and no lacing. As I said, I drank this cold. At first there was a slight metallic taste to it, though not unpleasant. Slight bitterness on the back of the tongue. The brew has a dry mouthfeel. As the brew warmed we had the taste of semi sweet chocolate. I enjoyed this pint and will buy more if I come across it.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with lightness around the edges, looks like cola with no carbonation. No head. Slight chocolate and coffee aroma . Coffee on the tip of the tongue, moving onto chocolate as the brew wraps the tongue. Slight bitterness. As the beer warms it gains complexity.

Rerate is still skunky. Dark Brown pour with quickly diminishing light off white head that doesnt last as long as if the head were bubbles from poured water. VERY SKUNKY smell. This was my first skunky beer I’ve ever run into and it was abundantly obvious. The skunky smell faded some after 5 minutes, and gave way to a delicious rich, brewed, robust chocolately coffee smell, with a bit of lingering skunk leftover still though. Taste was very strongly of coffee and little else. Fairly thin overall, and tasted almost ok aside from the skunkiness which i could not look past. Very little bitterness. Overall both bottles from different states were skunked and didn’t impress at all. not a good porter.

500 ml bottle - pours a rich, dark brown with white head; minor lacing and aromas are sugary sweet; drinks so smooth and creamy despite it’s thin nature

500ml bottle.
Pours a deep dark chestnut-brown-black with light tan thick pillowy head that eventually collapses, leaving a ring that gently laces the inside of the glass with each sip. Aroma is of dry grain with a slight roast-bitter, dose of molasses and caramel, Flavor showed a pleasant light sweetness of caramel, toffee and molasses that balanced well againgst the moderately dry & bitter roast grain. A dose of nutty yeast and a hint of licorice show up a bit later to add a nice dimension to the fairly intense flavor profile. Fairly thick palate briefly coats the mouth as one swallows. Pretty well-done.

1000. Pours a dark tanned leather with a small off-white head. For a porter an acceptable watery roasted malt with some chocolate aroma. A traditional slightly bitter taste from the roasted malts, slightly chewy.
