Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available brewery conditioned and cold filtered in 500ml bottles.
This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

500 mL. Dark brown, but transparent with ruby highlights when held to the light. Nice medium head that leaves a sudsy lace. Aroma is mostly subtle and dryish. Some rich chocolate, raisin, and graham cracker, maybe just a whiff of smoke and coffee. Flavor is similar. Palate is smooth and slightly dry. Slight herby hop aftertaste leaves a tingle and balances the malt very well. Excellent beer.

Bottle at home. Oak borwn, slight head. Syrupy, sweet nose. Oaky, wheaty, sugary taste. Very good porter. Really nice flavours of chocolate, caramel and coffee. Textured, syrupy with bitter finish. I love porters.

(Bottle, Jerusalem Tavern, Farringdon, London 25 Apr 2007) Dark brown colour with ruby notes, huge frothy off-white head. Malty, slightly metallic nose with notes of dark fruit. Malty, rather dry taste, roasted with coffee, dark bitter chocolate and a dry bitterness in the finish (and again, chocolate). Chocolate and hops, how could I resist?
