Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available brewery conditioned and cold filtered in 500ml bottles.
This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

Bottle at Jerusalem Tavern in Farringdon (London), a dark ruby colour with an off-white bubbly head. A light smokey aroma, would have loved it to be stronger. A light to medium mouthfeel, good roasted flavours with a hoppy tang. Quite tasty.

Chocolate and Black Cherry is apparant in the nose. The appearence very black with a tight off-white head. The finish is quite short and overal a little thin for this style.

Nice, rich color, but very little head. Faint lace. Semi-sweet, stale coffee aroma and taste. Grassy notes, as well. Quite bitter finish. Not a real good example of this style.

Funky medicine bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. Smells of sweat and light hops with minimal malt. Taste is watery and plain with some earthy hops present. Overall a very boring beer.

Pours deep mahogany into a stem glass. Mocha head quickly subsides to skim rim and hug sides. Burnt chocolate and espresso aromas. Creamy with a medium body. Upfront sweet chocolate and a lasting bitter coffee finish.

Bottle sampled at my house thanks to The mad Indian. Pours dark with an off-white head. Aroma of coffee and roast. The flavor is coffee, roast, slight chocolate. Great beer.
