To me, it looks better in this old-style bottle than in a glass. I prefer Original Flag Porter and Road Dog Scottish Porter only because I expected more from this beer. drainey (231), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 26, 2006 Bottle. Pours with a dark brown, relatively thin body, and a small brown-white head. Nose is faintly molassessy. A very nice toasted malt flavor with just a hint of molasses sweetness. Palate is thin, but not disappointingly so. A very nice beer. SGTHibbert (100), Perry, Iowa, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Oct 24, 2006 1 pint 0.9 oz bottle with very interesting shape and color. Antique looking. Very good porter. I was very surprised. Not to bitter at all. Nice strong coffee, and dark chocolate flavor. Scents of molasses. Very good. Buy this if you are a fan of porters. Roasted aromas give way to chocolatey taste and a very smooth mouthfeel. A beer to be savored in small sips. MadIndian (992), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 19, 2006 The amber fluid glistens out of the bottle into the wide rimmed glass, leaving a modest, yet well-laced, cream head. As this brew moves toward your lips, the whiff of gently alcoholic, roasted barley caresses your nostrils. The brew pours gently past the lips and across the tongue with a surprisingly, and somewhat dissapointingly, light mouthfeel. The limited carbonation, detracts from, but does not negate the mingling of malt and cracked barley, flirting gently with roasted walnuts on the tongue. An altogether credible English porter, like a promise of salvation in the wilderness of American dreck. Rune (2787), Tromsø, Norway

Delicate bottle design as always. Small off-white foam over a deep mahogany body. Dark malty aroma. Flavour of coffeebeans, cocoa and malt. Medium palate and easy to drink (24.09.2006).
