M0RHI (1067), Luxembourg, Luxembourg Aug 6, 2006 Cask, Jerusalem Inn, London. Slightly sour old ale quality, malt, coffee. Lime and cinnamon. Firemoose15 (540), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 6, 2006 Bottled. Aroma light carmel and dark roast malts. Poured a deep dark brown. Flavor was of weak coffee and roast to burnt malts. Palate was good, thin and watery though. Overall I’d say not bad. rybowen (105), Los Angeles 90039, California, USA Aug 5, 2006 Assertive, caramelized porter with a roasted, bitter flavor and a heavy body and mouthfeel. Great flavor and beautiful dark red color in the glass. Nice porter. Sam10 (36), Olympia, Washington, USA Aug 5, 2006 Great old time bottle feels like your holding a flask. Dark reddish color small head. Not much of a Porter taste to me its very tame in between an Ale and a Porter. Not a bad ber I enjoyed it. NachlamSie (1630), Tennessee, USA Aug 4, 2006 bottle split with Muenster. I have been avoiding this for quite some time at the behest of a buddy of mine, but the time has come to form my own opinion. I tried and thoroughly enjoyed their cream stout, so it made me slightly more optomistic regarding this brew. However, I believe this joins the list of brewers that make an awesome stout and a disappointing porter, or vice versa. The pour is thin from the get go, totally English in style. It’s red with the faintest sembelance of a head. The aroma is just of cheap instant coffee and powdered cream. Very light on the palate, soy sauce, stale coffee. This is acceptable for consumption at best, not memorable at all. MacDaddyOJake (274), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jul 30, 2006 A little light for my tastes. Tasted like a porter that had been watered down with a lesser ale..... kinda like a black-and-tan gone wrong. With that being said, good roasted notes, a little chocolate and coffee, but all where just too faint. If this were a bit stronger and more flavorful, it would have been wonderful. Zinister (1198), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 18, 2006 Pours a rich reddish black with little head. Very nice coffee, dark chocolate and licorace notes on the nose. Roasted malt backbone with chocolate and smoke. gferd (99), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 21, 2006 Black body with a small head. Heavy aroma of malt, liquorice, hops and smoke. Bittersweet malty and hoppy flavor dominated by smoke and English liquorice with some anise in the background.
