WISEGUY572 (1244), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 19, 2006 Actually not bad. Porter is not my favorite style, but this is pretty much what I would expect from a middle of the road porter. Dark with a small head. Medium oily mouth feel, perhaps a bit thin for the type. Good intensity given the low alcohol ... coffee and dark malt, sweet malt, and a long bitter finish, better hop intensity than I expected. Again, thin for a porter, well hopped, and a nice beer. peter (385), Dallas, Texas, USA Apr 22, 2006 Dark stout like pour. Nose is strong on concord grapes. Sweet roast and choclate malts. Palate is very dry on the finish. tounge is a standard sweet porter, but with concord grape notes, not offence, but personally I would it a bit sweet. leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Apr 21, 2006 Bottle. Very dark brown with red tints and a large rocky beige head. Aromas are roast coffee malts with sweet, earthy peat. Hints of chocolate with sweet and sour fruitiness. Flavours are light, earth roast malts with smooth chocolate. Sweet and sour in its fruitiness. Some sweet Ovaltine maltiness. Everything is well balanced. Dry and slightly metallic on the finish. St Peters should be applauded for their tradional approach to porter brewing. IrishBoy (2686), Bakersfield, California, USA Apr 12, 2006 Deep amber-brown with a tiny beige head. Malty-molasses with a bit of mocha aroma. Coffee-malt with a molasses hint in the flavor. bierkoning (5989), La Tropica, Netherlands Apr 5, 2006 Coffee, licorice and brown sugar in both aroma and flavor. Sweetish, medium bodied. Bitter walnut aftertaste. Tasty, but the licorice character is somewhat exaggerated. Nevertheless a fine beer. OlJuntan64 (1267), Perth, Australia Apr 1, 2006 Murky canal brown with a small short lasting beige head, Delicious roasted malt coffee, plum pudding hint of boot polish and alcohol aroma. Thin slightly chewy low carb dry mouth feel. Flavour is classic porter, big roasted dry malt, low sweetness and medium bitterness. Reminds me of a light espresso. Finish is crisp and drying. Nice mcnally (114), Burbank, California, USA Mar 28, 2006 Very delicious, one of my favorites so far. Pours dark brown with thumb sized head. Aroma of dark chocolate mixed with fruit, also hints of alcohol. Feels smooth on the tongue. Really enjoyed the complex taste, which included some pine I think. I will buy this again. GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Mar 15, 2006 Opaque, dark brown in color w/ a charred leather nose. A big, dry, earthy flavored style. Dry and leathery finish.
