Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available brewery conditioned and cold filtered in 500ml bottles.
This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

Murky canal brown with a small short lasting beige head, Delicious roasted malt coffee, plum pudding hint of boot polish and alcohol aroma. Thin slightly chewy low carb dry mouth feel. Flavour is classic porter, big roasted dry malt, low sweetness and medium bitterness. Reminds me of a light espresso. Finish is crisp and drying. Nice

Very delicious, one of my favorites so far. Pours dark brown with thumb sized head. Aroma of dark chocolate mixed with fruit, also hints of alcohol. Feels smooth on the tongue. Really enjoyed the complex taste, which included some pine I think. I will buy this again.

Opaque, dark brown in color w/ a charred leather nose. A big, dry, earthy flavored style. Dry and leathery finish.

(500 ml bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/freeport/ target=blank>Derosier’s) This pours a dark cola color, with a small biscuit head with big bubbles. Poor lacing. Aroma is coffee, some chocolate, hint of sour. Mouthfeel fairly full, pretty smooth but a touch prickly. Flavor is basically black coffee with some chocolate. Finishes bitter. Also getting grassiness in finish. Not bad except for grassiness and rather lackluster appearance.

Dark brown beer with some lacing. Initial taste is slightly coffee, trails off with the same bittersweet chocolate taste of their cream stout. Actually tastes a lot like the cream stout and english ale mixed. I enjoyed this beer, although it was a bit watery. Still a solid porter offering.

Pours a very dark amber, to translucent for my taste. Very little head. Aroma is great with chocolate, coffee and a little smoke. Palate is thinner than I remember. Still a good beer but I had it years ago and remembered it more fondly.

Poured translucent dark brown with no head. Sweet dark grape aroma with some soy sauce and a hint of coffee. Quite smooth really, but not exceptional

500ml - poured dark brown with absolutely no head. Aromas of roasted malt, peat, and smoke. Flavor was light coffee, roasted malts, a touch of chocolate, smoke. No hops found in this one.. Palate thin and on the watery side without carbonation...
