Thin slightly chewy low carb dry mouth feel. Flavour is classic porter, big roasted dry malt, low sweetness and medium bitterness. Reminds me of a light espresso. Finish is crisp and drying. Aroma of dark chocolate mixed with fruit, also hints of alcohol. Feels smooth on the tongue. Really enjoyed the complex taste, which included some pine I think. I will buy this again. Poor lacing. Aroma is coffee, some chocolate, hint of sour. Mouthfeel fairly full, pretty smooth but a touch prickly. Flavor is basically black coffee with some chocolate. Finishes bitter. Also getting grassiness in finish. Not bad except for grassiness and rather lackluster appearance. ruggedman (616), Portland, Maine, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Mar 8, 2006 Dark brown beer with some lacing. Initial taste is slightly coffee, trails off with the same bittersweet chocolate taste of their cream stout. Actually tastes a lot like the cream stout and english ale mixed. I enjoyed this beer, although it was a bit watery. Still a solid porter offering. demdeac40 (240), Etowah, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 1, 2006 Pours a very dark amber, to translucent for my taste. Very little head. Aroma is great with chocolate, coffee and a little smoke. Palate is thinner than I remember. Still a good beer but I had it years ago and remembered it more fondly. bridge (659), Sydney, Australia
