barleyPops (1079), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA Sep 18, 2005 dark brown pour with aroma of chocolate and some coffee. good flavors of the same choc & a hint of coffee. a slight acidic bitterness on the tail end I did not like. Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands Sep 15, 2005 my first porter, have to say i like it a lot!
dark beer with little or no head. aroma: milkchocolat, vanilla, bit fruity(citrussy), roasted malt. taste: chocolat, vanilla, bit coffee, citrussy(hoppy), little sweet, resin and dark roasted malt. finishes bitter and citrussy. light bodied with soft carbonation. nice brew! Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Sep 14, 2005 Didn’t realize I had never rated this. Nice bottle. Dark brown going into black, very little head, intentionally low carbonation. Light milk chocolate aroma. Flavor matches, milk chocolate, a hint of coffee, not complex, but definitely a nice session style porter. MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Sep 12, 2005 A nice beer to see at the LCBO-
Pours an opaque body, with tons of fizzy head that is beige in colour. Aromas of vanilla extract, coffee, and some malt. Taste is sweet, vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Pretty good. Smooth mouthfeel. Well balanced. A good example. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Sep 10, 2005 Bottle (500ml). Poured clear deep ruby-brown with an average lasting off-white creamy head. Aroma very smoky, with coffee and dark chocolate, roast malt and peat - sweet. if anything, resiny/woody; some mineral character on warming. Taste is very smokey (hardwood smoke and ash), burnt malt, some hop bitterness - especially in the finish, with some peat and mulch. Mouthfeel is almost acidic, medium to medium-light body. Very nice, not cloyingly sweet or watery like some. caledonian (367), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Sep 9, 2005 Flavor reminds of dark chololate with possibly a hint of cherry. Fairly smooth. Not bad at all. iam (369), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Sep 6, 2005 Another good one from St. Peters. Pours a dark brown colour, almost opaque. Rich aroma of coffee, chocolate malt and a touch of smoke. Fruity taste up front with rich chocolate malt and a bit of caramel. God hops bitterness to finish. Medium body and a creamy mouthfeel. dyetube (397), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 3, 2005 I noticed this beer becasue of the bottle! this beer follows right in the foosteps of a very fine porter. not overly roasted but not to light either (I am a fan of the porters and stouts). overall a very drinkable and good beer!
