Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available brewery conditioned and cold filtered in 500ml bottles.
This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

2009 Bottle. The smoothest porter I’ve ever had. Overall, not the most complex porter, but very very nice. Aroma increases as the beer warms, reminiscent of molasses and malts. Looks dark, dark brown with very little head. Very smooth mouthfeel with a clean finish. Flavor of coffee and cocoa with very little hops. Excellent beer.

Dark brown pour with a light tan head, big roasty aroma, hints of dark fruit and chocolate. Taste is syrupy, heavy roast, plums, maple syrup, brown sugar, caramel and chocolate.

Botella. Very dark brown colour with a creamish fairly well alsting beige head. Sweet brown sugar roasty malty bit chocolate aroma. Good filling mouthfeel. The flavour is sweet with roasty malt and caramel along with some chocolate and dark fruits. Ok porter, bit thin though.

One pint bottle. Black with ruby highlights. Sizeable tan head. The head really lingers and leaves behind nice lacing. Roasted malt, caramel, and a little wine in the nose. Low carbonation with a medium-thick mouthfeel. Flavor is similar to the nose, minus the wine. A little coffee, lots of caramel, some earthiness. It also has a dry bitterness that works well with the malty sweetness. Overall this is a very enjoyable porter!

(Bottle from Co-op, Long Stratton) Poured black with an off white small creamy head. Smell of rich chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt and dark fruit eg plums. Taste of more plums, chocolate. A rich taste with a drying coffee bitter finish. Smooth mouthfeel and strong. Good.
