Bottle looks fantastic but is not so flash to pour from. Deep red-hued mahogany, almost black. Tan, honeycombed, head that fades to a lacey ring. A few large bubbles cling to the side of the glass. Big chocolate aroma with a milky sweetness. Flavour is both sweet and sour at first - very ’porterish’, followed by a mild, woody, bitterness. Slightly sour, but not unpleasant, aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, softly carbonated. Pretty good. Sregnar35 (729), Rotterdam, New York, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Jun 13, 2005 Pours a deep red-hued black, thin head and great lacing. Aroma is dark malts, chocolate, and cherries. Flavor is the same, though a little heavy on the cherries. Flavor becomes thin towards the end, and the palate is fairly thin throughout. Very quaffable. Chocolaty aroma with a little licorice and charred wood and molasses. Medium bodied and pleasantly bitter. Roasted and blackened flavors with some tart and fruity. lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 3, 2005 Pours a dark ruby with a 1/4 inch tan head. not much lace to speak of. Smells malty and fruity, hints of maple or molasses.
The appearance and smell do not reveal the taste of this brew. Nothing overly complicated but a nice nutty and smoky taste to the malt. Smoky, roastes, burnt malt flavors. Roasted nuts and hints of vanilla. Lightly metallic. Medium bodied. Very smooth porter and pretty unique to most that I have tried. Very good. Sigmund (2273), Hafrsfjord, Norway

Very dark brown to chestnut, nearly black. Lovely strong aroma of roast malts, dark chocolate and prunes. Notes of oak and cigars too. Flavour is roasty, smooth and mellow with chocolate notes. Roasty aftertaste. Very good.
