kumite56 (461), Cordova, Tennessee, USA Mar 12, 2005 This St. Peters was pleasant but unimpressive. The beer poors a dark brown with little head. What head that exists consists of large random bubbles . Aroma is plesant, nutty, roasty. Palate is fairly light but flavor does not dissapoint. Initial some sweetness followed quickly by a significant and long lasting bitterness. green (187), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Mar 11, 2005 Cellar Temp. Aroma musty. Dark burgundy, slightly transparent, minimal head laces somewhat Very light mouth feel just a bit watery. Vinous, with strong acrid malt flavors and hint of pepper. Smooth bitterness and traces of alcohol on the finish. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Mar 8, 2005 Bottle poured a dark burgundy brew with a small light brown head. Faint, musty aromas of sour plums and bitter coffee. First sip singed my lips & tongue with lovely bitter hops. Interesting flavors ran a gamut of semi-sweet to sour to bitter to acidic. The texture was not as watery as other porters I’ve experienced. My favorite St. Peter’s... so far. Eructoblaster (1477), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Mar 7, 2005 Pours a dark brown body topped with a thin off-white creamy head. Wonderful malty nose with a complex mix of nutty, brown sugar, dark chocolate and roasty notes. Without being as complex as the aroma, taste is more than fair. Good balance between maltiness and hoppiness. Strong hints of roasted coffee, and an enjoyable long and bitter finish. Pretty good stuff. PetetheMeat (546), Hove, Denmark Mar 5, 2005 Dark brwn, beige head. Soft carbonation. Strong promising aroma. Malt, chocolate, licorice. Rich flavour. Complex. Roasted malts. Some underlying malty sweetness. Coffee. Floral, hoppy finish with lasting bitterness. Watery yet a bit oily palate. Engelsmann (653), Copenhagen, Denmark Mar 1, 2005 Bottle. Pours dark brown, with a thin tan head. Aroma is a little on the light side, with some roasty notes. Taste is surpringsyly light, roasted malts is the dominating taste. noelcb (271), Toledo, Ohio, USA Feb 21, 2005 Nearly black, with a thin head but a full, rich aroma, notes of burnt toast, hops, and coffee beans. Taste is sturdy & bitter with tangy finish, leaving lingering hints of dark chocolate and grapefruit. This is a stealthy brew that leaves you savoring its complexities long after you’re usually finished tasting most beers. Leaves me wanting another. Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Feb 19, 2005 Bottle. Dark brown colour with a small baige head. Weak chocolat roasted aroma and a light roasted coffee taste. Medium bodz and a light roasted finish.
