This pours dark brown, but with almost no head-- it took a few seconds for anything to appear. Chocolate head. Coffee aroma. Taste is strong at first but finishes weak with almost no aftertaste. Strong coffee, molasses, burnt grain flavors. Not as thick as you would expect it to be. Darn tasty, though. presario (2956), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 17, 2005 Bottle. Very dark with almost no head. Licorice and molasses aroma. Light sweet start but very strong lasting black strap molasses finish. Other flavours appear periodically such as coffee and chocolate. An interesting beer if the molasses doesn’t send you running. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 17, 2005 Dark, dark reddish brown color with a medium, frothy, light brown head. Smokey aroma. Starts out maltier with an ever-so-slightly bitter finish. The oval-shaped green bottle is definitely very sexy too. kumite56 (461), Cordova, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 12, 2005 This St. Peters was pleasant but unimpressive. The beer poors a dark brown with little head. What head that exists consists of large random bubbles . Aroma is plesant, nutty, roasty. Palate is fairly light but flavor does not dissapoint. Initial some sweetness followed quickly by a significant and long lasting bitterness. green (187), Boston, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 11, 2005 Cellar Temp. Aroma musty. Dark burgundy, slightly transparent, minimal head laces somewhat Very light mouth feel just a bit watery. Vinous, with strong acrid malt flavors and hint of pepper. Smooth bitterness and traces of alcohol on the finish. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 8, 2005 Bottle poured a dark burgundy brew with a small light brown head. Faint, musty aromas of sour plums and bitter coffee. First sip singed my lips & tongue with lovely bitter hops. Interesting flavors ran a gamut of semi-sweet to sour to bitter to acidic. The texture was not as watery as other porters I’ve experienced. My favorite St. Peter’s... so far. Eructoblaster (1480), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 7, 2005 Pours a dark brown body topped with a thin off-white creamy head. Wonderful malty nose with a complex mix of nutty, brown sugar, dark chocolate and roasty notes. Without being as complex as the aroma, taste is more than fair. Good balance between maltiness and hoppiness. Strong hints of roasted coffee, and an enjoyable long and bitter finish. Pretty good stuff. PetetheMeat (547), Hove, Denmark
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 5, 2005 Dark brwn, beige head. Soft carbonation. Strong promising aroma. Malt, chocolate, licorice. Rich flavour. Complex. Roasted malts. Some underlying malty sweetness. Coffee. Floral, hoppy finish with lasting bitterness. Watery yet a bit oily palate.
