Nose is sour with some orast. Flavor is complex with some acid and licorice. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. I would love to taste this baby on cask! SDalkoholic (1188), Chula Vista, California, USA

A weak aroma but raisins over power everything else. Slightly bitter flavor of chocolate and black licorice. Not impressing for a porter at all. Garrat (1132), Suffolk, England

Ruby-black pour is glowing and beautiful beneath a wispy and thin head. Pretty standard porterly aromas of coffee, chocolate, roasty malt. Heavy handed chocolate tries to unset the balance throughout. Mild and sweet, lightly sour, lots of roasty chocolate. Somewhat unctuous body that finishes with goodly bitterness. Surprisingly good, but not outstanding. steve23mj (273), Essexville, Michigan, USA

A strong coffee malt flavor throughout - mildly bitter. Nice full body. Very enjoyable. brewshthereen (316), Oregon, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 16, 2004 The unusual "cough medicine" style bottle got my attention, and seemed interesting. Poured like cola with no head to speak of. I know this is gonna sound strange but it kind of smells freezer burned. Pretty odd indeed. Not much aroma perhaps some coffee and fruit. Sour milk, coffee, burnt toast, and green flavors. Slightly bitter and acidic in the finish. You could consider it complex in a odd sort of way. This is going to stay in the tried it once catagory. The color is a darkish brown. The aroma is deep malts. The flavor is somewhat nutty and chocolatey, not bad, but with a flat mouthfeel. Not bad, but this GREEN bottled beer’s keeping is somewhat suspect. I’ll try this again on a later date.
