SubstanceT (1090), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA Apr 21, 2004 Soy soy soy sauce, salty and agressive. Hints of candy in the nose and taste but the sodium to me is just harsh. It does pour nicely and the mouth is medium and slippery. Not bad, just not something that I particularly enjoyed. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark Apr 20, 2004 Black body with a small head. Heavy aroma of malt, liquorice, hops and smoke. Bittersweet malty and hoppy flavor dominated by smoke and English liquorice with some anise in the background. Quite full-bodied and the best I have tasted from St. Peters so far! OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Apr 14, 2004 Updated: Oct 30, 2004Very interesting beer. Medium brown red colour with a thin tan coloured head. Aroma is dark chocolate and bread with a roasted character as well. Lots of things happening flavour wise, with chocolate, coffee, rye bread, and a toasty character all jumbled in there somewhere. Light to medium bodied and smooth. RichardGretton (3131), Leicestershire, England Apr 13, 2004 Typical porter appearance with a well roasted malty aroma, and a very dry roasted/coffee flavour. Overall a very good porter. obxdude10 (1546), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 10, 2004 Reddish tint to an almost black color, very thin off-white head, faint chocolate aroma, pretty thin in the body as well, unimpressive, watery finish, not that great of a porter
Sanchex (223), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 6, 2004 Sweet chocolatey aroma, little head. Dark reddish brown. Nice malts, mellow roasted flavour. Fruity undertones. Nice. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Apr 3, 2004 Good stuff. Dark, bit red. Nose is roasty, and a bit sweet. Nice roasts, somewhat smoky and woody, finishes nicely bitter. Good hops at end. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Apr 3, 2004 Black but clear beer, with a thin head. Bitter chocolate, slightly roasted aroma. Very bitter, roasted malts with some sourness, a good dose of hops, with not much sweetness. medium dry body.
