This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

0.5l bottle. So strange these St. Peter bottles. Who came up with the idea to make them like this anyway? It pours a clear deep dark ruby body with a medium sized bubbly beige head that’s leaving some lacings down the glass. Smells really nice this one. I get chocolate paper, cocoa, light roasted malts, dark malts and a dark caramel sweetness with tones of wood and dark fruits. Took me a bit off guard, and I really like it. In the taste it feels a bit thin and watery with coffee, soft chocolate, dark malts, some dry cardboard, watery licorice and honey. Light caramel sweet also, and a soft dry chocolate finish ending with a mild bitterness and a hint of acidity. Not bad at all, but the aroma was stunningly nice and definitely memorable. 05.09.2012

Bottle at home from backlog notes 07. Pours a reddish brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have mild roasted malts, chocolate, a hint of tart fruit, light herbal hops, mild bitterness to the finish, light bodied, ok but the stout is better.

Aroma is not very good.....I'm getting over a cold but it just doesn't get high points from me. I love these bottles. They're like old medicine bottles. I'm not a big fan of the beers inside though....lol. I had a grapefruit ale the other night and it wasn't a stunner either. Just not refined enough. Glad I tried it, but not going to get it again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at The Fiddler, Den Haag. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy white head. The aroma is red berry fruit, roasted malt. The flavour is medium bitter, light sweet with a smooth caramel, fruit, light hop bitter palate but with a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle. Aroma dry roasted and chocolate. Quite dry. Clear very dark colour. Off-white head. Taste is again quite dry from the beginning. Roasted and dark chocolate, somewhat simple, but really effective and tasty. Easily drinkable with a dry roasted finish.

Bottle at home, 500 ml, poured into a snifter. ANB 5.1% Darl mahogany brown colour on the body, tall light beige head, thick, with very good retention, leaving light lacing on the glass. Aroma of burnt caramel, light honey notes, berries, grapes. Taste follows, mostly sweet, caramel, some hops, hints of honey and molasses, berries, a hint of citrus acidity, faint roasted malts. Mildly bitter on the aftertaste, it doesn’t need more in my opinion. Medium thin body, low carbonation, quite dry palate. Not your usual porter but very good nevertheless, very interesting.
